How quickly can I return to classes after Breast Reduction Surgery?

Question

I am scheduled to have my Breast Reduction Surgery the day after one of my classes begins and I am wandering if someone drives me if its is realistic for me to go to classes. I would take that first week off but its a summer course and missing even a few days is looked down on. I will just be sitting there listening to the professor.

You should be fine going back to school seven days after your surgery. I typically recommend that I patients return to school or work 7-10 days after their procedure. Please ask your plastic surgeon his or her recommendations about return to school.Good luck.

One day recovery from a breast reduction is rather optimistic.  This is a big operation and you will more than likely need pain medication for at least the first 2 - 3 days.  You may not feel like going to school for at least 5 to 7 days after surgery.  Everyone is different.

If all goes well there should be no problem with you returning to class one week post-op, that is if all goes as expected.  Most of my patients are off pain meds and their drains out.  Discuss it with your plastic surgeon to be sure.
