I feel like the fat from under my eye-lid has dropped further down my face. I have significant under eye hollows under my left eye and also my cheeks are far fuller on that side too. Is that just a coincidence or has the fat re-positioned itself so to speak? And what type of professional could identify my problems with asymmetry?

This is a very common sign of aging and makes us look tireder or older than we are. This downward drift leaves a more hollow lower eyelid and a fuller fold in the crease from our nasal rim to the lateral corner of the mouth. (the so-called nasolabial folds.)Replacement of this volume with a filler or with fat transfer to the area can give you a very nice result. Answer: Combination of factors As we age, we tend to lose volume in the face in a predictable manner (And areas of the face). However, you may notice increased"puffiness" of your lower eyes as well. The two are separate processes but both need to be addressed. Volume addition (via fillers or fat) can help the cheek area. Volume and or surgery may also help the eyelids. That's hard to say without any pictures.

Of course, would need photos (an an exam) to definitively diagnose; I can say that with time, the cheek complex does move downward, leading to an unattractive "unmasking" of the orbital rim. Similarly, eyelid fat in the lower lid prolapses forward, leading to bags underneath the eyes.Hope this is helpful. Dr. Shah
