HELP! 6 weeks post op - is my incision separating? Scar has gotten thicker. (Photos)

Previously posted pictures at 3weeks post op when i waa worried with the same area. Still having problems under my left breast.. Scar hss gotten thicker, still is redish pink, no scabs.. is it ok to start applying silicone sheets?

Hello!  It appears as though you have a very slight amount of superficial separation in the area of your breast lift commonly referred to as the "T".  This is very normal. Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars.

These small openings are not uncommon after a breast lift.  Visit with your surgeon on how to care for them.  They tend to heal nicely with minimal home care.  Your surgeon will advise if it's okay to proceed with scar treatments.  The key to success with them is consistent use.

What you are experiencing is not uncommon. Usually, a small gap develops at the T section due to constant stretch from the skin. This is usually managed with antibiotic topical creams and gauze and should resolve on its own as you heal.

Hi there,
A little bit of delayed healing at the 'T' junction is quite common. In your case, everything looks nice and clean with no sign of infection. The early scarring looks ok but with your skin colouration there is a risk of poorer scarring in any event. My advice would be to moisturise and massage your scars for 10 minutes morning and evening and apply a slicone cream (eg Silderm available at Boots). The scars will take many months to fully mature. As always, if you have major concerns, it is best to have a chat with your surgeon. Best of luck

It appears that you have a common (very small) separation a the T point which is often treated with topical neosporin and gauze.  When it is healed you should start scar control measures.  My favorite is silicone sheeting for two months followed by scar creams for 4 months.

Hi thank you for your question. It's difficult to be sure but it appears that you have superficial separation and some stretching of the scar. If so, this is a minor problem and most commonly settles.
I would suggest you visit your surgeon for a proper review and assessment.
