Can strip FUT or FUE affect your facial skin in anyway?

Question

i recently had strip fut hair transplantation then after fue as lots of the initial doner hairs didn't work. My question is by removing a piece of skin from your head and stitching it back together can this create any change to your face. My cheeks are slightly more droopy this only happened after my procedure. can the strip fue affect in anyway your facial skin even in the most unlikely situations can this happen? pulling the skin together when stitching can this affect your facial skin?

Dear della88,Thank you for writing in with your question.  The short answer is no.  The skin of the face is anchored to the face by many ligaments, and regardless of an FUE or FUT procedure, it’s not possible to effect changes in the facial skin by removing scalp from the donor area on the back and sides of your head.  These ligaments are all around the eyes and cheeks, and serve to hold the face in place on the bony skull underneath.  That being said, clearly there is some swelling that accompanies a hair restoration procedure, and sometimes this fluid as it subsides and passes down from the transplanted area through the face there can be some temporary swelling and rarely bruising of the face, but this is transitory in nature and should be completely resolved by 7-10 days following a procedure. You can have temporary facial swelling days after surgery.  It usually goes away in a week or so.  FUT or FUE itself does not change stretch, pull, or make your face droop.

A hair restoration surgery should not have caused any facial changes. One may experience swelling of the face about 2-3 days post-op and selling normally only lasts about 24 hours before it starts going down.

There is sometimes facial swelling after a hair transplant due to fluid injected in the scalp drifting down with gravity but this is temporary and will resolve. Hair Transplants whether Strip FUT or FUE should not affect your facial appearance or skin in any way.

The surgery you described should not have caused any changes to your face.If you had a lot mof facial swelling after the transplant, such changes resolve themselves

I have done over 15,000 surgeries with my medical group and I have never seen this observation. I am sure, having thee strip procedures myself, that the scalp feels tight after the surgery but in less than a month, that problems goes away.
