Since yesterday, 7th night, I started sleeping in normal position. Will it lead to grafts falling down? I have a ton of scabs (more in recipient area) as I really have been super cautious so as to avoid heavy contact. What will be the consequences if all my scabs didn't fall off by day 10-15? I've heard that'll prevent transplanted grafts from falling. is that true?
Answer: You don't have to worry. Other doctors may have different opinions, but after 7 days the grafts are anchored in and you really can't ruin it. In the last 23 years we've been in practice, we've seen a wide spectrum of scabs after surgery. Scabs and sleeping positions is not really a huge factor in hair growth after surgery. As long as the surgery itself was done properly by competent doctors and staff, the hairs will grow.

Answer: Try to avoid applying pressure to the graft area Hello, congratulations on your procedure. I am not sure what you mean by "sleeping in a normal position" but for the next week you should try to avoid applying direct pressure to the grafted area. We do send our NeoGraft patients home with special products to treat the scalp and help with scabbing after the procedure. Good luck to you!

Answer: Sleeping position after a hair transplant Whatever position you sleep in, 'normal' or not, if the grafted hairs are rubbed they are likely to fall out.At 7 days post procedure this should be OK as the stem cells responsible for the growth of a new follicle should have integrated into the surrounding dermis. Don't worry if all the transplanted hairs fall out - you should see new hairs growing in 3-4 months.

Answer: Scabs after a hair tranplant (FUE and Strip) The recipient sites should be washed the very next day gentle with a sponge (we give them to our patients) and then gentle press on the sponge directly on the recipient grafts. This will take off all scabbing safely. If any particular scab does not come off, then use a Q-Tip and roll it after it has been in a shampoo solution and roll it back and forth until all of the scabs are gone. By doing this, you will have no detectable recipient area almost immediately upon washing it. We almost never see anyone who loses hair grafts with this technique. The Donor scars for strip surgery can be washed gentle with a shampoo using your fingers until is is clean of any blood. You don't have to be too careful with washing the donor wound. We see less infections with using this technique. The FUE donor area needs washing daily as well much as I said above. By keeping these wounds clean, healing will be faster. You don't have to be too careful with washing the FUE wounds but be gentle the first 2 days, then you can be slightly more vigorous. If the scabs persist after two weeks and were not removed immediately after the FUE, then you must wait until the scabs fall off on their own. You can facilitate this by keeping the shampoo on your crown area for 5 minutes and then gently, very gently rub the the area with your finger tips, You will feel the scabs coming off with this process and as long as you don't pick on them, the scams with such washing will probably be gone in less than a week.
