How rough can I be with my implants once the healing process is complete?

Thank you for your question.  Silicone implants are quite strong and durable.  I have seen testing on implants with compression and stretching that were not able to cause any visible damage to the shell.  That being said, over time the shell will weaken and may rupture and need to be replaced. Once your treating surgeon clears you postoperatively it is highly unlikely that one could rupture the implant with physical activity.  Good luck.

Hello! Thank you for your question! Altitude and pressure have no effect on breast implants, whether saline or silicone. It is safe to travel by air within pressurized cabins or even scuba dive without concern. No further precautions should be taken during these activities. Certainly, discuss any concerns with your surgeon prior. In the same manner, blunt force will unlikely cause rupture. Repeated trauma from the folding io the implant over time is known to be associated with rupture. Obviously, penetrating trauma from sharp objects will also result in rupture. Both saline and silicone implants are very durable and daily activities will likely not cause any increased risk to the integrity of the implant. Hope that thus helps. Best wishes!

Difficult question to put into practical terms, but at the end of the day I would not limit your activity due to this concern. The implants are quite durable and clinical experience has shown that rupture is not necessarily correlated with 'roughness'  - for example implants often go un-ruptured through car accidents, but others experience a 'silent rupture' where no known external damage has occurred. All this being said, the FDA does recommend MRI to check the implants 3yr after surgery then every 2 yrs, so if you are worried you can always follow their recommendations and check with an MRI.I would say live your life and enjoy. I hope this is helpful.

Breast implants are designed to withstand significant amount of force. In other words, rupture of the implants would require significant force, unlikely to be sustained during sexual activity. Best wishes.

Once your healing process is complete you can be as rough with your implants as you desire.  Ask your surgeon what their preference is for healing time, and then enjoy your breast implants.

the newer silicone implants are quite durable. That being said it will take several weeks to several months before your husband can fondle them with the vigor that you are used to. If they become sore then I would stop and resume at  a later date.  Good luck.

Hi DreamingofCs. Thanks for your question and this one is so much more fun then any question I've been asked on REALSELF. Congratulation on the frequency, (impressive). Yes your sex-life will flurish (to 7X/wk?) But to fully engage your décolletage in the bedroom will take some stages of increased enthusiasm. The first few days they will be too sore for prime time and then you'll enter a period of a few weeks where they are mildly sore. During this time perhaps just showing the new friends will be plenty exciting, and they should be used with some caution. After the first month the surrounding tissues will have healed enough where you can tolerate some manipulation but I would stay away from the point where it is painful. After 6 weeks to 3 months the healing will be complete and full participation is allowed and encouraged. In general always stay short of the pain threshold. I would refrain from running your car over your new implants, not good for either your breasts or the car. ; ). Also, becoming pregnant immediately after your BA will ruin the results. 

Follow your surgeon's instructions for post op healing.  Once you are healed, it will be almost impossible to damage the implants during sex.
