Will my breasts look bigger once they drop and fluff?

Two things happen and seem paradoxical. As as the swelling goes down there will be some shrinkage but at the same time as the muscle relaxes your breast projection grows. In general the breast shape and size proportionality improves..Breast implants initially after surgery when placed in a submuscular position often give superior fullness that corrects itself with time, the "fluff and drop" phenomena. In reality the pectoralis major muscle takes a while to adjust its size to accommodate the implant as well as occasional muscle spasm which keeps the implant projection higher than its final resting shape. Additional variables include:laxity of skin, size difference during prior pregnancies, position of implant,size of muscle, and size of implant.As the muscle relaxes the projection of the implant often increases and the breast shape improves. Massage and use of a superior placed elastic strap can often make this process go faster.

Thank you for your question. Drop and fluff refers to post-operative period in which the breasts begin to descend and fills out the lower half of the breast. It may take several months for this to happen and can be encouraged with breast massage and compression. It may appear that the breast enlarges as the lower aspect of the breast fills out (at the expense of the upper portion of the breast).

Usually they look bigger the first weeks after surgery due to swelling.In some more weeks swelling will begin to recede and they will get their natural folding.So keep in mind that first of all you have to wait to see your final results, and then if you like to go bigger you may change implants.

Hello Dear, you just have to wait at least 7 weeks to settle, before they're looking at your size, The setting of the silicone implants can change with time, wait a couple days more. Good luck

I guess this is your follow up note to the RealSelf community? If any of us takes the time to read your postings the glaring common issue is the 'rush' you went to have this implant surgery. NO time to form a good doctor -patient relationship, no time to decide upon the best implant sizing for you, no time to allow appropriate follow up with your chosen surgeon. And you have NEVER posted photos before and afters for us to compare and comment upon. Therefore what you are requested is an impossible response from any of us as to size for you and the lack there of in that size after surgery. Lesson for all patient readers is 'take your time' before consenting to any surgery. Form a good doctor/patient relationship, allow 'time' to heal and recover. And do not be afraid to ask any question of your surgeon! PS: I must also comment that I place some of the issue on your ?boarded PS. The surgeon should have required a more appropriate timing of meeting first than operating a few days later. 

As others have stated, just allow for at least 6 weeks before really looking at your size.  Settling of the implants can change the look and I'm sure you'll be happy with time.

You are still very early in your healing process, and need to give you body time to heal, let the swelling subside, and the implants settle. Once you have healed, you will probably love your new look.

This is very common to feel that your implants are not big enough. You need to wait at least three months before going bigger. Please send picture for better evaluation.

I'm sorry to hear about the "boob greed" you are experiencing after breast surgery. Given that you are very “fresh” out of surgery, it is quite likely that you are experiencing significant “emotional ups and downs” unnecessarily. In other words, it is much too early to evaluate the outcome of the procedure performed; your breasts will undoubtedly change over the course of the next several weeks/months. Many of my patients report that as the swelling around the breast implants (for example, in the sternal area) decreases, they feel that their breasts appear more projecting. Also, in my opinion, the "drop and fluff” phenomenon does hold some validity; as breast implants “settle”, many patients feel that their breasts actually look larger. Although online consultants cannot predict whether or not you will be pleased with the long-term outlook, of the procedure performed, it is safe to predict that the breasts will change.
