In many of the before/after pictures of dorsal hump removals, I notice that the tip of the nose also looks lifted and significantly smaller. I'm interested in having my own dorsal hump removed but I like the tip of my nose and don't want it to look any different. My tip has a very slight droop to it.
Answer: Dorsal hump & tip This is a great question we actually hear quite often. Patients frequently come in requesting an adjustment to their dorsal hump/bridge of the nose but want the tip to remain the same (or vice versa). However, what most patients don't realize at first is that if changes are made to one part of the nose, such as the reduction of a dorsal hump, it can alter the appearance of other parts of the nose. For example, addressing only the dorsal hump without making adjustments to the tip can sometimes give a "ski slope" appearance and/or make the tip appear larger. You may be happy with your tip now, but it's important to find a surgeon who can keep the nose looking balanced once the hump has been corrected. My best advice to you is to find a surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty and feels confident about helping you achieve your desired look.

Answer: Nasal hump removal with out any tip work? Nasal hump removal with out any tip work? Yes this can be done and it depends on the proportion of the upper nose to the tip whether or not that's in your best interest. An examination or photographs will answer that question.

Answer: Dorsal Hump Reduction Hi there. Dorsal hump reduction, without tip modification, is a feasible rhinoplasty maneuver. If this is the only change desired, the procedure may even be performed via a closed approach (all incisions inside the nose). Hope this is helpful. Best wishes. Anand Shah MD.

Answer: Rhinoplasty for dorsal hump removal without changes to the tip Yes, it is possible to remove only the dorsal hump. It's important to make sure all the components of the nose balance with themselves, and new nose balances with the entire facial features. If the tip cartilages are droopy and wide, they will be out of balance with the new nasal dorsal profile. In our practice, some patients receive no tip work, some patients receive minimal tip work, and some patients receive extensive tip work, all depending upon the anatomy of the lower lateral cartilages of the nasal tip in relation to the dorsum.

Answer: Lower hump without altering tip Thank you for your question. Rhinoplasty is a wonderful and complex operation. The short answer to your question is: yes, it is possible to reduce a hump without altering a tip. Heres the medium answer: an aesthetic nose is all about harmony with respect to the nose and with respect to the rest of the face (and even body). Most rhinoplasties require multiple, small alterations to achieve a balanced and natural result. I definitely recommend a formal consultation with a plastic surgeon, as the online format is limited (even WITH photos) in terms of making specific recommendations. I hope this helps - good luck!!
