What procedure do I need to get rid of my protruding chin and long jaw? (Photo)

Hello Doctor, I'm 25 and have always had a long chin, I hate taking pictures. My jaw is also wide, as you can imagine having the two makes me very insecure about my face. I don't know if the problem is because of my jawline or cheeks but from my nose down my face is much too wide/long. Could you please recommend what I should get to fix this?

The main component of your long face is the vertical length of the chin. This is best addressed by an intraoral vertical chin reduction osteotomy. The width of the jawline can also be reduced as part of the vertical chin reduction through an intraoral jawline shave.

It is possible to reduce the size of your chin.From your second picture it appears your face is somewhat elongated. This is especially noticeable in your four head and mid-3rd of your face.Your chin is proportioned correctly for that part of your face and I don’t think the chin reduction is going to correct your overall appearance of an elongated face.Sometimes it’s better to except what our parents and God gave us and be happy in so many other ways.I question if going through this procedure is going to leave you content and feel it was a worthwhile endeavor.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
