Hyaluronic Acid is a natural substance already found in our body, so allergies to fillers rarely occur. Because of this, a patch test isn't routinely performed. These fillers, (Volbella, Restylane, Juvederm) are good to create a full and symmetrical lip. Implants or fat are alternatives. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. While years ago we did do some testing for fillers since a small percentage of people had an allergy, this is very rarely done now since people are no longer allergic to the current hyaluronic acid(HA) based fillers. If you were concerned still, you could inject intradermally a bit of any filler (e.g. into your arm) and wait 2 weeks to see if anything happens. I've injected thousands of patients and have never had a true allergic reaction. In the uncommon scenario when the results are not to your liking, you can also safely & simply dissolve these HA fillers with an enzyme, hyaluronidase.
The most popular fillers we use for lip augmentation are hyaluronic acid based. HA is a natural sugar your body produces daily so patch testing isn't necessary and thus, rarely used. These fillers will give you the best natural look you can achieve but your final result depends on the skill of your injector. You should see an expert in facial injections for optimal results.
The prior responses about the HA being natural and thus highly unlikely to cause a reaction are spot on. But if you are concerned, you could ask for a patch test. Be prepared to spend a lot though as they will have to use a new syringe of filler, and apply a tiny amount, and then wait a day or so. Most practices do not like to keep unused filler around: there are issues with contamination, loss of efficacy, etc. In other words, you may have to buy an entire syringe worth of filler for a test that is very very very unlikely to show you have an issue. But it is possible.
You still have swelling from your touch-up, which can last 1-2 weeks after your procedure. You can apply firm pressure between two fingers on the lips for a few days, for 5 mins a time in order to help decrease swelling and even out the lumps. If you're unhappy with your final results, you ca...
