I do a lot of liposuciton for patients after gastric surgery but typically wait 3-6 months for them to lose weight before performing the procedures. Best, Dr. Emer.
You should wait to have any plastic surgery until you have reached your goal weight and have been stable for at least 6 months. It is best to lose the weight gradually and then have the correct procedures based on what things look like once you've reached your goal weight. Something that may be the right procedure for you now may not be necessary once you've lost the weight, or worse, may prevent you from having the procedures you really need later on. Best of luck with your weight loss.
Body contouring is the last step after massive weight loss surgery. Be it lap band, gastric sleeve or gastric bypass. You should be at your goal weight for 6 months before undergoing body contouring surgery.Yours,Jon M. Grazer, MD, MPH, FACSPlastic SurgeryNewport Beach, CA
This is a great question to direct to your general surgeon and your plastic surgeon. Most plastic surgeons recommend that you are close to your goal weight prior to undergoing body contouring procedures.
Short answer, you can but I would advise waiting. Body contouring is best at the endpoint of your weight loss and at a point when your weight remains stable. Good luck and be safe.John T. Nguyen, MD, FACS, FICSDouble Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
Thank you for the question. You are undergoing gastric band procedure which can help you lose weight. I would highly dicourage you from having liposuction one month after your band procedure. The reason for that is you will lose weight post procedure and this process can continue for 18 months or greater until your weight stabilizes. I would recommend for you to be active in a fitness program and is the best thing you can do. Once you stabilize your weight and you have skin that is hanging and loose, you can undergo surgeries such as body lift, tummy tuck, thigh lift, arm lift, breast lift, etc.i would recommend you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Good luck
Hi Bo1975Let me be blunt. It is possible that someone will do this to (not for) you at this time. In my opinion, this is not safe or prudent. You should be in a very dynamic state of weight loss, and your physiology at this time is changing too. You may not need lip after your weight loss is complete and stable. This would subject you to needless costs and risks, while possibly harming your potential aesthetic result. In general, you should consider cosmetic rehab at about 18 months or so, when you are healthy, and your weight is stable. Some areas may take a bit longer or shorter before performing surgery.Congratulations on your healthy lifestyle change.sek
It is definitely too short after the lap band is placed in.Focus on your weightloss and lifestyle change.Improvement in your body shape will occur, be patient.Usually 1 year wait after a bariatric procedure is the best option.Good luck!
Thanks for the question, I am sorry you are unhappy with your results. When I perform revision lip I typically go in without suction and spend a lot of time breaking up scar which can allow the skin to redrape evenly. I will only fat graft large "dents"
This is a not a cosequence of liposuction, have someone do an internal evaluation or see what has changed in your lifestyle or medications. Best, Dr. Emer.
Most likely the shape you are seeing is related to the swelling. Best to give it several months to settle down. Best of luck.
