Once your sweat glands have been eradicated these will no longer return even with the hormones of pregnancy. With one treatment, the average patient can expect a 75 to 80 % reduction in the number of sweat glands. Best of luck on your new pregnancy,Dr. ALDO
Great question, @cabbagepatchdolls87 !The sweat and odor glands affected by your miraDry treatment (s) will not return, they were permanently destroyed. They cannot re-grow, nor will new sweat and odor glands produce. You may notice that EVERYTHING is increased during pregnancy, and you'll be more sensitive to your surroundings. That being said, it is not uncommon to feel like you are sweating more.I hope this helps, good luck and be well!#pregnancyandsweating #sweatingaftermiradry #miradry
You may have already read, or know, that Miradry does not rid you of 100% of the sweat glands in the axillary area. After you are treated, you do not grow new sweat glands. During pregnancy, or some other type of hormonal fluctuation, you may see an increase in sweat production by the remaining glands. As hormones normalize again after pregnancy, this should again subside.
I am not aware of any causal relationship of pregnancy to the return of sweating after MiraDry. The glands that are destroyed by the procedure are permanently gone. However, the literature states that it effects 82% of sweat glands, so it is more likely that there were just some residual glands that have continued to function, and the hormonal changes of pregnancy have made it more noticeable. About 15-20% of patients who are truly hyperhydrosis do require a 2nd treatment to obtain a more complete result, so you may consider that option.
I have done miraDry since 2011 and have done hundreds, being a Platinum Plus Provider for miraDry.I have only seen this occur once.Dr H Karamanoukian#RealSelf100 Member
Swelling does occur with MiraDry and it should resolve soon. Keep using the compression garment as long as it doesn't interfere with the MiraDry treated site. Good luck, Dr. ALDO
Thanks for the question. Wait until the swelling and bruising subsides, and massage any areas where it feels "weird." If you want a tan look, consider a spray tan in the mean time! Best wishes, Dr. Aldo :-)
Three days post MiraDry treatment is still early. Give it a little more time to heal and see your full result. Most patients who undergo one MiraDry treatment see a 60-80% reduction in sweat and odor. Reevaluate at 3 months to determine whether you need another treatment. Until then, goo...
Some sweating is normal. Remember that one treatment reduces sweating about 75 to 82 percent. Continue to monitor your sweating and be sure to follow up with your treating physician in 2 to 3 weeks.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO
This is rare and I believe there's a good change it can resolve after childbirth. After the baby's born, if symptoms persist then speak with your treating physician.Best, Dr. Aldo
Congratulations on getting 80 to 85 % reduction in your sweating. The second treatment should be done at level 5 at three months from the first treatments. It sounds from your description like you're not fully recovered yet and you need to wait about 1 more month.Best wishes, Dr. Aldo
