Fluid build up after gynecomastia surgery?

On sunday last week, I have undergone a gynecomastia surgery on one side without lipo. The next day I noticed fluid buildup in the area. I went to see the surgeon, but he said that its normal and that my body would reabsorb it. There is enough amount of fluid to make a noise when I press on it but not enough to make the “waterbed” effect”. I went again yesterday, the surgeon tried to aspirate it but nothing came out. He said that the fluid was still thick and that I should wait for 2 weeks.

This is a fairly common problem after this type of surgery and it sounds like the advice you have been given is absolutely correct. If a small amount of blood has collected under the skin, it is often too thick to remove by needle (aspiration) at first. After a couple of weeks, it will liquefy and your surgeon should be able to remove it but, failing that, it will re-– absorb as long as the collection isn't too big.

It sounds like you may have a hematoma, which is collection of blood in the surgical area. Oftentimes hematomas will become more liquefied and be amenable to aspiration (remove with a needle). For patients who have a hematoma, I sometimes recommend warm compresses to speed this process along. Discuss these options over and keep close follow up with your plastic surgeon.
