I'm 32 and loosing hair. I wouldnt want to take any medicine after treatment other than multi vitamins and pain killers and that's what a doctor told me. I have added lots and your replies about mean a lot

It is best to contact your doctor about post operative care and instructions since each doctor has a different regimen.Finasteride is not mandatory after surgery.

You don't "have to" take finasteride after a transplant (no one can force you) any more than you "have to" do maintenance on your car, house and other belongings, but your long-term results will be much better.

It's not outright required, but most doctors won't perform a hair transplant on you without knowing that your hair loss has stabilized, either naturally or with the use of Finasteride/Propecia. Additionally, the medication can help prevent shock loss which will make your end result look better sooner.
