Erased jaw line after botox to neck bands? What went wrong?

I suggest if you are unhappy with the botox, consider fillers, lasers, ultherapy and PDO threads to give you more lifting to this area.  Botox will wear off in 3-4 months.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Sorry that you are having this problem.  A photograph, or better still, before and after photos, would have been extremely helpful in this case. What I can say is that I have been injecting Botox for aesthetic purposes for over twenty-five years. In the beginning, in order to treat ropey neck cords, we simply injected the cords themselves. Later, we learned that the platysma, the broad muscle responsible for those cords, extended all the way up in a sheet onto the length of the jawline, and by injecting along the posterior 2/3 of jawbone, as well as the cords themselves, we could get an additional tightening of the upper neck and jawline. The technique was dubbed the "Nefertiti Lift" after the famous step mother of King Tut whose tight neck-chin profile is considered the feminine ideal. It sounds from your description as though your doctor was attempting to do this. If so, your current problem of sagging and loss of jaw definition may simply relate to edema (fluid accumulation) due to the trauma of the multiple injections, since it is still only two days past treatment.  Alternatively, the injection points chosen may not have been appropriate or a dilution chosen such that it allowed for spreading of the injected material beyond the desired treatment zone. If the situation persists or worsesn over the next few days, you would do well to contact the treating physician.  Going forward, make certain that you are seeing an experienced Botox injector. Ask to see his/her before and after photos. Best of luck to you and best for the holidays. 

Thank you for your question! It would be easier to give you an opinion if you showed before and after pictures. Some people become immune on Botox after some time. You did not mention if you had new injector. It is unclear what happened. I am so sorry for your unpleasant experience with Botox. Best of luck!

Sorry to hear about your experience. It is only 2 days after your injection, and so what you are seeing is probably not from the Botox itself. However, without photos it is hard to tell what is going on. You may be experiencing some swelling related to the injections. I would wait and see. If you are unhappy with the Botox, it will take 3-4 months for it to completely wear off. 

for best answer we need pre post pictures on this one however 2 days post injection means the active material in Botox is not yet working. Thats good news as you might be experiencing something that goes away in couple of days rathet than months. Icing the area and head elevation should decrease swelling if thats is the cause of changes that you have explained. 

I think that you should show pre treatment photos and post to get an idea about what you are referring to.

it is not possible for me to determine what is going on without photos but for the lift I inject the bands in the middle and lower of each and then along the mandibular line to get a lift. I am not certain as to what went wrong here

Hello and thank you for your question. I am so sorry to hear about your experience. It is hard to comment without seeing the before and after pictures and knowing how the injections were done ( dilution, quantity etc.. ) . You are still early post-procedure. It may take up to 10-14 days to appreciate the full effect of botox as it may get better in the next few days. At that time, I would recommend following up with your injector. Best of luck, 

The changes that you're seeing after only two days are probably not the muscle effect of the botox but far more likely swelling or bruising.  I'm hopeful that in a few more days you'll start to see the benefits of the botox injection and these changes will disappear.  Regards,
