Hello,It might cause you some discomfort but you're unlikely at 4 weeks out to disrupt too much. Make sure you have a binder or some sort of support over your abdomen when coughing or sneezing as this can help with comfort and with your results. Some patients find that holding a pillow while coughing also helps. All the best in your recovery!Dr. BlaggAustin, TX
At 4 weeks, coughing and sneezing shouldn't put you at risk. However, it is always good to periodically follow up with your surgeon for an examination to ensure that you are healing properly.
Hi Shrimper.Repeated coughing/sneezing could be a problem and lead to increased pain/discomfort. Speak with your plastic surgeon about ways to reduce the risks of sneezing (allegra/zyrtec/nasal steroid). Sometimes a cough suppressing medication might help too. Best wishes, Dr. ALDO
I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. It's not impossible to "pop a stitch" 4 weeks out from an abdominoplasty but it is very unlikely. You're mayhave more discomfort but I wouldn't worry too much about effecting your outcome with sudden increased pressure a month out from the operation. Just make sure to treat your symptoms appropriately and see your primary care doctor if you have fevers or a productive cough. Otherwise, if you notice changes in the appearance of your abdomen make sure to speak with your plastic surgeon asap. I hope you feel better.

Hello, Yes, most hernias can be repaired at the same time as a tummy tuck. There are different kinds of hernias, and the ones that are most easily repaired are umbilical hernias and epigastric hernias. I was trained in General Surgery (in addition to Plastic Surgery), so this is very easy for...
