Previously had 2 septoplasty operations and not much was done to my nose. I am now thinking of doing a full nose correction (rhinoplasty). However I would like to know if I do find an experienced surgeon and decide to go for the procedure would it be considered a revision operation since septoplasty and rhinoplasty operations differ.
Answer: Revision rhinoplasty/septoplasty. Since the nose is being operated more than one time it is technically considered a revision. The surgeon who does your nose should have a great deal of experience and does many rhinoplasties per year. Make sure the surgeon does natural looking noses as well as being able to revise the septum if necessary.

Answer: Rhinoplasty after previous Septoplasty Having a previous septoplasty can change things if you are considering rhinoplasty surgery. This will depend upon what changes you need/want done to your nose. When you had your septoplasty, it is very likely that a good portion of your septum was removed. The surgeon usually keeps enough septum to support your nose. If the bridge needs to be brought down further this can be a concern. If any cartilage grafts are needed, the septum likely will not be sufficient after having a prior septoplasty. You should visit a surgeon that is a rhinoplasty specialist. In my view, anyone having rhinoplasty should see a surgeon that specializes in rhinoplasty to ensure you are getting the best possible care. He/she can thoroughly examine your nose and determine how much cartilage was removed. After that assessment it will be easier to determine how the previous septolasty will affect a rhinoplasty.

Answer: Rhinoplasty after septoplasty This combination is not uncommon, although many times these operations are performed in combination. Many times during septoplasty surgery, a portion of the septum is removed. This may become important for a rhinoplasty, as many rhinoplasty surgeons will use cartilage grafts for support. This means that cartilage will have to be taken from elsewhere, such as the ear. I recommend consulting with a Board-Certified plastic surgeon who will accurately examine you, review previous operative reports, and develop a plan tailored to your needs. Best wishes!

Answer: Rhinoplasty and septoplasty are 2 completely separate procedures Two previous septoplasty procedures will make the rhinoplasty more difficult, especially if cartilage grafting techniques are required. A septoplasty is performed only to improve air flow through the nose, and does not change the shape of it. A rhinoplasty is performed to change the shape of the nose for cosmetic purposes. For more information about the differences between the 2 procedures, please see the video and the link below

Answer: 2 previous Septoplasty operations no seeking rhinoplasty Thank you for your question....The answer really depends on the type of correction you are seeking with rhinoplasty surgery. For example if all that is required is removal of a dorsal hump (bump on the bridge) then the operation can often be performed without accessing the septum. Even some nasal tip corrections can be done without getting into scar tissue, etc. from a previous septoplasty. If however, more extensive maneuvers are needed such as straightening a crooked nose or fixing airway blockage than often the septum is addressed and cartilage grafts may be needed in which case having a previous septoplasty can make the operation much more challenging and put the patient into that "revision surgery" category. Hope that helps...
