Is Bactroban OK to use inside the nose if there is no infection?

suseso1
it is been a couple months that I been dealing with crusting inside my nose. I went to see my doctor a month ago and he said he didn't see anything wrong. But Tuesday I gave him a call because my crusting is not getting better and my surgeon prescript me Bactroban ointment to use inside the nose for one week. I know this ointment is prescript when you have an infection, will it affect if I don't have a real infection?
