Hello lagsand21,Thanks for your question.Actually 3L of fat removal during liposuction is significant for most people.  It really depends on your height and weight.  For most patients, 3L of fat removal is not so much that they can't go home after surgery the same day.  If patients have more than 5L removed in one session, it is prudent to keep the patient in hospital monitored.Liposuction is performed for body contouring purposes, not weight loss.  It is important for the patient to be within 30% of their ideal body weight for safe anesthesia administration.I hope this was helpful.Dr. Shah

Depending on your height, weight and body mass, the answer is yes, for the majority of people. It represents more than 6 pounds of fat being removed. Liposuction is a body contouring surgery, not for weight reduction which is a benefit of course.

3 liters is a decent amount of fat removal. Remember, liposuction is not a weight loss surgery. Rather, it helps improve contour by removing fat from certain places and redistributing it to help create ideal proportions. So honestly, the idea that more removal is better is not entirely correct. The key is finding board certified surgeons who understand the importance of sculpting and proportions to give you the best possible result.
