Can you used liposuction to reduce the impact of severe reflux?

Question

I am hoping that liposuction can help solve or at lease reduce a major problem I am having with reflux ... This system does not allow me the space to offer a detail case history ... which has been complex and difficult So for now --- despite previous surgery and meds ... I often still get major attacks of acid rushing into my throat, mouth and lungs ... Need to lose weight to hope ... but diets have failed ... Does liposuction makes sense for reducing the pressure on the stomach? Thanks

liposuction of any magnitude will not have any effect on gastroesophageal reflux. Liposuction is an aesthetic body contouring procedure and nothing more.

Acid reflux from the stomach to the esophagus is caused by a variety of factors. Factors can make the sphinter loose, can cause over production of acid or can mechanically compress the stomach causing back up of contents.  Pregnancy can increase it both by the size of the uterus and the hormones causing relaxation of the sphincter (valve) between the esophagua and stomach. Obesity may contribute to reflux because of the mass of the fat obstructing the stomach, but much of that weight is on the inside of the abdomen.  Unfortunately liposuction does not have any contribution to timproving gastric reflux.

I'm sorry to hear you are having so much discomfort, but liposuction would be of absolutely no help.
