Can I get lipo 8 months after tummy tuck?

Thanks for your question. Paients usually have to wait around 6 months between these surgeries. At 8 months you should be ok to have liposuction. That said, you definitely have to choose your surgeon correctly and make sure that he/she has the training and experience to meet your goals with absolute safety.  A key quality indicator is Board Certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.  Don’t settle for less than a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with specialized expertise in this procedure.

While it is possible, if your weight is going up, it might be better to start with a medical evaluation to find out why your weight is going up. It may be that some minor changes in your diet would help especially if you are already exercising. Your metabolism can be changed by many processes. I would suggest starting there and if everything checks out, then go see a board certified plastic surgeon that performs liposuction and tummy tucks so a full evaluation can be done and make sure it is safe and the procedure can deliver what it is your are trying to achieve. It may be that you are a candidate for a different procedure. Good luck and don't get discouraged, sometimes it is easier than you think to make the change

I think it is really important to have a personal consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon in order to say if you would be a candidate for more abdominal liposuction. In general, it is possible. I always recommend my patients to wait at least 6 months after surgery to treat the same area again with liposuction.

Deanna I completely understand the aging process and the fact that our metabolism slows down as we get older and losing and maintaining weight gets tougher. However, chasing weight gain with Liposuction  is unhealthy and unwise. Try a sensible diet and exercise program prior to seeking more liposuction after Tummytuck only eight months ago. Thanks for the question.  The ideal time period for liposuction after a tummy tuck is after at least 6 months.  This allows any residual swelling from the tummy tuck procedure to resolve.  Depending on what was done at the initial procedure, I usually recommend using a non-energy based modality for your liposuction.  I would use the Micro-Aire power-assisted liposuction (PAL) machine first followed by an energy-based modality if it is needed.  A consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon is recommended to determine your best options.

If there is extra fat in the upper abdomen area then you could definitely get liposuction there.  I always do liposuction of that area during a tummy tuck if patients have any extra fat.  Best wishes!
