Hi Mimilop :) Great question, you have beautiful lips! A lip lift will decrease the distance between the bottom of the nose and the top of the lip hence yes, the length of the philtrum (cephalad to caudad) will decrease You have a beautiful upper lip already, and it is important to note that the look of the upper lip will change slightly with a lip lift. You can mimic the effect by pulling on the skin just below the nose and this will cause a slight upturn of the body of the lip. With lip lifts, my preference is to have a distance of 13mm to 14mm from the base of the nose to the top of the lip (vermillion border), I find this distance gives the best results. You can measure your distance or ideally have a Plastic Surgeon measure the distance with a caliper, as this would be most accurate. Personally I would not perform a lip lift if the length was 14mm or less already. If it is longer, you can consider it! However do note that your upper lip will have more show due to the pulling effect of the lip lift surgery. Hope that helps!!
