I’ve been looking into the lip lift procedure for about 5 years, watching the methods evolve, etc. My philtrum measures to about 17mm. I do fear however nothing can be done for me due to my upper lip being almost proportional in size (and sometimes larger) to my lower lip. I personally do not like the lip filler look. Can someone please tell me whether or not my upper lip size would prevent me from a aesthetically pleasing outcome? Thank you in advance.
Answer: Am I a good lip lift candidate? Thank you for your pictures and questions. I think that if you are looking to shorten your upper lip distance then a lip lift might be a good option for you. However, while it will not make the upper lip "fuller" per se, it will lead to some additional eversion of the upper lip and more show of the pink portion of the lip, thereby making the upper lip appear taller, which might make it more prominent and this needs to be considered in discussing your outcome. Have a consultation in person to discuss and review outcomes. Good luck! Dallas Buchanan, MD VIVIFY plastic surgery Tampa, FL

Answer: Lip Lift Candidate Hi there! Lip lifting can result in nice improvements in the upper lip. As you may know, we measure the amount to be removed and make sure not to create excessive tension or an unnatural look. It appears you have a long white lip. The lip lift decreases the amount of white lip and rolls the red lip creating more show including, to a degree, of the teeth. The incisions tend to heal well if done correctly. In your case, since your red lip volume is good, it may very well create a disproportion compared with your lower lip. Fat transfer can be a good option as well to the lips and can be very natural if you haven't explored that option. Hope this is helpful!

Answer: Lip lift A lip lift does 4 things: shortens the distance between your nose and upper lip, increases the mucosa of the upper lip, increases the incisor show and pulls up the corners. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Lip reduction, not a lift It does not appear that lip lift will do anything for your lips. There is discrepancy in the size of your lips; your upper lip is slightly larger than lower. reduction of the upper lip may improve lip balance and appearance. Good luck.

Answer: Yes - lip lift candidate Dear Enopahcrasj,Thanks for asking this question. You are a good candidate for a lip lift. Your lip philtrum measures 17 mm, and can be reduced to 12-14 mm, depending on your exam. This will allow an improvement of the upper lip. Filler can be added to the lower lip to augment it. A lip lift will help shorten the distance between the base of your nose and the top of your lip. It would also increase the dental show at rest. A lip lift is done under local anesthesia (~60-90 mins), or can be done with sedation. It is a permanent procedure. The incision is placed under the nose and heals very favorably if done by an expert. Social downtime is 1-2 weeks because of lip swelling. The results are immediate. Notably, 1) shorter distance from the base of the nose to the top of the lip, and 2) increased red lip show at rest. I recommend you see a board-certified facial plastic surgeon like myself. I hope this helps! All the best,Dr. Sanan, MDAkshay Sanan MD Facial Plastic SurgeryDouble Board Certified
