I had breast implants (MENTOR Memory Gel, 425cc right, 400cc left) in 2017, and recently, in early 2024, I noticed a very visible ripple under my left breast. I’m concerned as I’ve seen online that implants should last 10-15 years, and I haven’t gained or lost a significant amount of weight since the surgery. Is it normal to experience this ripple after seven years, or should I be worried about the condition of my implants?

Answer: Rippling Thank you for posting your question here!My answer will be based on the limited information provided , for a more detailed and personalized plan I would recommend consulting with your plastic surgeon in person. With time tissue can loose some of it's elasticity coupled by the weight of the implant itself and the implant itself and be molded a little differently by the surrounding tissue so rippling can occur. That being said there are MRI screening guidelines that are in place to check on your silicone implant's integrity, most manufacturers recommend getting an MRI 5-6 years after placement and then every 2-3 years thereafter.I hope this helps! Best of luck!

Answer: Ripple The ripple is from thinning of your breast tissue from the weight of the implant. although you did not post photos, it is possible that your implants are too large and heavy for your frame and tissue. Mesh could be done to help give more support, and/or you could go down in size and the pocket repaired.
