Hello! I’m an 19yo male who is looking to get a chin implant precedure done in about 1-2 years to have a stronger chin/jawline if possible. I’m also wondering if a rhinoplasty will also help if I get the chin implant, I don’t hate my nose necessarily but I don’t know if it’s a decent shape already.
Answer: Consider your options for creating a stronger jawline Thank you for your question and for providing photos. You may benefit from dermal filler or collagen stimulator injections to augment the appearance of your chin and jawline. These non-surgical treatment options can add volume to the chin, enhance definition, and create the appearance of a more sculpted jawline that is harmonious with the rest of your facial features. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified injector who can assess your concerns and suggest the best approach to help you achieve your aesthetic goals.

Answer: Chin implant candidate Thank you for your questions regarding a chin implant and for including photos. I true profile picture would be most helpful to see the nose and chin profile. The nose and chin complement each other. From the photos you posted, it does appear that you are a good candidate for a chin implant would which give you more definition and a stronger chin. To be sure, see two or more experienced, licensed and board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.

Answer: Chin implant Dear PeachieFruitCan,it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: 19 male, is a chin implant right for me A chin implant is placed for patient to have a recessive chin profile which appears to be the case in the photographs that you presented. The implant is inserted through small incision under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. Digital computer imaging would be helpful to understand what your new Chin might look like.

Answer: Facial aesthetics I think your facial aesthetics are quite good and you should carry yourself with pride and confidence. Oh there’s no strong indication for surgical intervention. Your chin has excellent vertical height but would benefit from forward advancement. Treatment options include chin implant, sliding genioplasty or augmentation with fillers. If you’re uncertain consider working with fillers initially to get accustomed to the augmentation and get a better sense of how much and where volume should be placed. Ideally working with a plastic surgeon who could eventually convert to a permanent solution while temporary Lee creating chin augmentation using fillers may be ideal for individuals who are on the edge when uncertain about the definitive nature of surgical intervention. Removing a chin implant is fairly straightforward especially if done early but ideally the procedure should be done with the intention of leaving it permanently.A sliding genioplasty has certain advantages and disadvantages but is definitely a more definitive move that is more difficult to reverse. Working with photo simulation can be helpful especially for profile enhancement. This is true for both chin augmentation and rhinoplasty work. Both procedures require finesse and experience to get consistent quality results as well as debility to clearly communicate patient’s wishes and deliver consistent quality outcomes. Cheers providers carefully by vetting each provider through in person consultations. During each consultation ask each provider to open their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before and after pictures for the procedure you’re considering. Being shown a handful of sample pictures which must likely represent the best results of the providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like for the amount of experience each provider actually has. And experience provider should have no difficulty showing you at least 50 sets of before and after pictures for commonly performed procedures. There’s no particular preference for working with a board-certified plastic surgeon versus a facial plastic surgeon. In the end it’s the number of cases, inherent skill and dedication to perfection that matters. Ask providers to show you examples of excellent outcomes, average outcomes and less than outcomes. Talk to them specifically about the revision rates and have a clear understanding of the revision policy. All plastic surgeons have a variety of outcomes and seeing a large number of before and after pictures including a variety of results is the most accurate way to determine what average results look like and what each person should expect from a certain provider. When reviewing before and after pictures bring pictures of your own facial views taken similarly to have plastic surgeons take before and after pictures. Straight on frontal and through lateral pictures just like mug shots. The camera should be at least 6 to 8 feet away from the subject using enlargement if necessary to avoid wide-angle effects. When in doubt slow down the process and schedule more consultations. In the end provider selection is probably the most important decision in the process. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
