Would I benefit from a chin/lip implant? Should I consider both? Concerned about symmetry and tension in lower face. (photos)

Thank you for submitting your question and photos. The tension you’re referring to in the lower portion of your face may be the result of an overactive muscle, which Botox is able to treat. Dermal fillers can also augment the chin and lip areas by adding volume where needed.
If you find that you’re interested in more long-term results, you may benefit from a chin implant and lip lift to achieve the aesthetic changes you’re looking for. Chin implants can be customized to provide balance with the rest of your facial features and improve the appearance of your side profile. A lip lift procedure can reduce the length of the indented area of skin between your nose and mouth (the philtrum) to create a refreshing, feminine result. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon. They will be able to review your concerns and suggest the best course of action for you.

In the photos it appears that your chin is deficient in the horizontal direction and long in the vertical direction. In order to improve your facial balance and diminish the strain of your chin muscles, I would recommend a sliding genioplasty to reduce the vertical height and simultaneously bring your chin forward and give it greater projection. A chin implant alone cannot achieve these results.

It appears that combination of chin augmentation with implant, possibly neck lift, would be something to consider. Only on the basis of in person consultation, a board certified plastic surgeon, expert in face/neck lifts, could give you more accurate plan of treatment. Good luck.

Hello. It seems from your photos that you have ptosis in your chin and your chin is behind. This can be corrected with a chin implant. There is also no such procedure as a lip implant. The procedure that should be performed on your lip is lip lift surgery. Lip lift is performed with a small incision made under your nose and there is no scar with the method I use. Good Morning! Thanks for your questions. Have you considered Botox? The dimpling on your chin and banding under your neck may respond nicely. Once the area is relaxed, a chin implant can be considered. Or, a filler such as Radiesse might help create an improved projection and tightening along your jawline. Morpheus8 can improve some of the texturing as well. There are options and you may want to start with less invasive to more. Hope this helps!

Chin implants are placed when patients have a recessive chin profile. They augment the chin forward and give additional width to the frontal profile as well. In our practice, we place chin implants under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. The Chin Implant is inserted through a small incision underneath the chin. Placement of a chin implant has nothing to do with the tension in your lower face or stress in your lips, since the implant is a bony augmentation.

You have a vertical facial growth pattern with 'high angle developement' and an increased dimension of the chin. Minimally, consider a genioplasty to change the 3 dimensional contours. The surgeon can analyze other features not apparent in the images.
