Hello. I had surgery to fix a broken nose that happened years ago. I am still experiencing some fluctuating swelling especially in the tip and it’s more noticeable first thing in the morning, and when I exercise. It even feels weird sometimes in morning and while working out. There are points when I like the way it looks, but like I mentioned it fluctuated. I am coming up on 2 years post op this august and am wondering if this is normal and if the swelling and weird feelings will go away. Thx!

Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello! Thank you for your question.Without the photo of your face the evaluation will be difficult because the healing process it totally up to your skin type. Like if you have thick skin 1,5 year is totally normal. If you can provide photos with better lighting, from the side of your face and 1 meter away I would be able to make a proper evaluation. Best Regards!

Answer: Swelling after Rhinoplasty Hi there! Great question. At 1.5 years post-op, you can certainly experience fluctuations in swelling, though they should be less and less over time. Steroid injections into the nose can be very helpful to minimize these fluctuations. These can be done roughly every 2-3 weeks depending on swelling and the amount of steroid injected. Nightly taping is also very useful. Things like exercise and diet can cause increases in blood pressure and fluid shifts leading to swelling. Perhaps revisit with your surgeon to see if any of the above may be useful. Hope this helps!
