Hi!As you know, Ehlers Danlos can have an impact on the connective tissue causing laxity. I've done a nasal surgery on a patient with Ehlers-Danlos and generally speaking, a rhinoplasty can be performed. The risk of bleeding is slightly higher in patients with Ehlers-Danlos and longer acting sutures may be used to "quilt" the septum with a need for splints after surgery. Moreover, a closed or endonasal rhinoplasty may be the preferred approach to reduce the risk of a widened scar on the columella. All of this should be discussed with your surgeon at the time of consultation. Hope that helps!
There are many varieties of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome by maens of complexity, as well as expected response to surgcal injury. They all carrie increased risk in wound healing and scar formation, which may not be so much an issue when it comes to nose surgery. However, based on this single photo, you may not need very agressive rhinoplasty and for theat reason you may be acceptable candidate for nose surgery? In person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon with good reputation in rhinoplasty, is recommended. Good luck.
The ehlers Danlos will make no difference in the approach to rhinoplasty. A good rhinoplasty surgeon will be able to do a good job for you.
Hello, I would suggest you check with your family doctor to see if you could do any incisional surgery first since there are some types of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Thank you!
While Ehlers-Danlos syndrome poses unique considerations, it is not an absolute contraindication for rhinoplasty. In fact, EDS individuals are able to undergo a rhinoplasty successfully and the surgery can be performed safely and effectively as well.
Yes you can have a rhinoplasty procedure with Ehlors-Danlos syndrome. It's important to look for a rhinoplasty specialist, since rhinoplasty is the most difficult procedure to perform correctly in the in the entire field of cosmetic surgery. In our practice, we have performed Rhinoplasty on several patients with this syndrome and those patients have received an excellent result. Digital computer imaging of your nose upon your facial features would also be helpful to see what can be accomplished with the procedure.
To address this specific issue, a rhinoplasty would create the illusion of more space between the base of the nose and the upper lip. To achieve an overall facial harmony, the surgery would have to be planned considering the relationship between the nose and the upper lip for a natural looking...
Hi, Great question. I actually do full rhinoplasties, including difficult revisions with local anesthesia ... so yes it is possible. The dents that you are referring to are from a lack of cartilage support in the area. I often see these with revisions where too much cartilage was removed, or...
You have open roof and it requires revision surgery . I recommend this surgery. Your bones have to be reshaped
