My doctor said that swelling is present but does he also mean swelling as becoming more thin or just the bulb of the nose. His results are really great and has a lot of work where the patients nose are thin with the 1 year post photos. So I am wondering if the wideness will decrease as swelling goes away. The left photo is before. The right photo is post cast where I have to wear tape. If you see the wideness is pretty similar. The side view looks much better since the procedure.
Answer: Does swelling include width? Rhinoplasty Results Yes, it's still too soon to tell what your final results will be. You need to have patience with your body as it begins to heal. The skin, bone and cartilage are all traumatized during surgery. Inflammation (swelling) is the normal response and will help your nose to heal and look beautiful in the end. If, one year from now, you are unhappy with your nose, then that is the time to think about a revision procedure. Right now, concentrate on other things you like to do and let your nose and under eyes take the time to heal. I hope this helps.

Answer: Swelling after Rhinoplasty & Results You have to give yourself some more healing time. Your nose and surrounding areas are going to be swollen for a while and you should be consulting the surgeon that performed the procedure but give yourself some time before going back in so some of it can subside. It can take up to a year for final results. Sincerely, Philip J. Miller, MD, FACS Double Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Post operative swelling Thanks for your question. Early in the healing process, the entire nose is swollen. As you recover, the swelling will reduce but at different rates. Fortunately, the bulk of the swelling will be gone in a couple months. The nasal tip is always the last area for swelling to completely resolve which can take upwards to a year in most patients. Best of Luck

Answer: Swelling after rhinoplasty Dear YellowtailSea, Swelling after rhinoplasty is typical and the whole nose tends to be swollen with the majority of the swelling settling within the first month and then gradually after that. Whilst the swelling can be noticeable over the tip, the width of the nose can potentially also seem greater and will usually improve. You are very early in the post-operative course and therefore I would not be unduly concerned at this stage. Best Wishes

Answer: Width of nose post cast removal Hi, and thank you for your question. You don't say how long it's been since your procedure, but I am assuming it was pretty recently as you have only just had the cast removed. I can assure you that the swelling you experience is normal, and the fact that it affects the wideness is simply due to the techniques used during your rhinoplasty. The swelling will considerably reduce as the weeks and months go by, but I suggest you speak to your surgeon if you are unhappy with the results as time goes on. I wish you all the best.
