Hello...I am having TT/BR/BL in May. I have read on RS that the post-op binder can/will affect the results of TT surgery. Can you please explain how this works? Thank you.
Answer: Binders - should you use them? Whether or not to use a binder is about 50/50. Some plastic surgeons always use them and some only sometimes. I use them in about 50% of the cases then I think the muscle tightening has a high chance of splitting apart again. Good luck!!

Answer: An abdominal binder applies gentle external support An abdominal binder is designed to apply external pressure to the abdomen to aid in control of postoperative edema and to give external support to the abdominal wall after abdominoplasty or hernia repairs. Most patients find they are more comfortable wearing the binder when they are up and moving around. Worn improperly, however, the binder can cut off blood supply to the skin or healing soft tissues. When wearing the binder, inspect it frequently to make sure it is positioned properly and not cutting into the skin. Remember that your sensation to the skin is not normal after surgery, and you may not feel the damage occurring from an improperly worn or positioned abdominal binder.
