My skin is burning and vaginal swelling 4 days post op. Any suggestions?

2 things I am 4 days post op and I still have areas on my skin that have a burning sensation mostly my core. When I put my abdominal binder on top of my garment and take it off it feels like my skin is fusing to the garment. Any suggestions? Also some areas are numb. Lastly my vaginal area has been remaining engorged and hurting how long will this last and how can I relieve some of the pressure.

Burning discomfort is typical at liposuction treatment sites. It improves over time. Non-narcotic anti-inflammatory pain killers help. Vaginal swelling improves if you lay down with your bottom slightly elevated with a pillow or cushion.

It sounds like some of the pain and discomfort you're experiencing is normal and some of it is not. You're skin may be extra sensitive to the fabric of the binder/garment so a follow up with your plastic surgeon should be scheduled. Also, after a tummy tuck the swelling goes downward and vaginal swelling and pressure is normal. Again a follow-up with your plastic surgeon is best to be sure what you're experiencing isn't an allergic reaction.Thank you for your question!Melinda Lacerna, MD FACS
