You will definitely be at a higher risk for bleeding and bruising due to your medications with lip injections. I encourage you to see a board certified plastic surgeon for your treatment. Discuss your medical history and medications to determine what is best for you.
Thanks for your question. If you are willing to risk some bruising, I would imagine you could go ahead and have your lips treated, but it will be something to discuss with your dermatologist or plastic surgeon. I would recommend having a board certified physician do your injections, so you will be in safe hands in case you do have quite a bit of bleeding. But if done slowly and carefully, and if you use ice off and on during the treatment, your risks should be minimal. Some patients take Arnica supplements and apply Arnica gel afterwards to minimize bruising. Please see an expert, and best of luck!
some providers will probably say no and other providers may be OK moving forward. You will definitely be at risk and should probably plan on getting bruised from having the fillers while on Coumadin. Personally when I do the fillers I inject the lips with local anesthesia containing high concentrations of a drug epinephrine. Are usually use 2% lidocaine with 1 to 25,000 epinephrine concentration.Well it’s possible to cause bleeding from the injection of local anesthesia it is done with a single pass using a very thin needle. I make a point of staying far away from the labial artery. The high epinephrine concentration causes intense vasoconstriction making the lips turn white. This minimizes the chance of bleeding while injecting the fillers as well as illuminates any discomfort during the filler treatment. This has significantly minimized and almost eliminated patients getting bruised from lip fillers. I can also take my time and because of it I get better results. You’ll find different providers having different views on this topic. I would venture to say that many providers would be hesitant. The risk of coming off or friend is also something that needs to be taken into consideration. Because this medication is taken to prevent potentially life-threatening medical conditions I would guess most providers would be apprehensive.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
Dear Imaginative9857, I typically use Juvederm for my lip sculpting. There are two main focuses of lip injections, adding volume and actually sculpting the shape. Both involve injecting the filler in different areas of the lips and patterns. I would recommend finding a plastic surgeon to...
My preferred needle is a 27 gauge 1 1/4 inch. I have high-quality 30 gauge 1 inch needles but to reach the center of the lip from the lateral, sure sometimes the 1 inch is too short. Whenever possible I use highest quality needles generally made in Japan by companies like TSK. Unfortunately TSK...
Great question! It is possible to add fillers into the lip with silicone injected lips. I would recommend starting with a little at a time so it doesn't get overfilled.
