I've been sick for 3 years and in the past 6 months my face has noticeably dropped. I used to get mistaken for being 15 years younger before I got sick, but suddenly I look old and tire all the time. I've always had great skin (though it has gotten dull recently) so I'm hoping that will save my face if/when I recover. So my question is whether this is a permanent change or will my face bounce back to how it was before if/when I get better? I am 40 years old if that helps.
Answer: The right combination of treatments should be able to help. It's hard to advise you without photos or an in-person evaluation, but from what you're describing there are a number of possible treatment that could help. Stress and illness can definitely lead to premature aging, so you may see some improvement once you're feeling better. If there are lasting issues, you may want to schedule a consultation with a board certified cosmetic surgeon to see which med spa treatments could be best for helping you restore a healthy glow to your complexion, or if cosmetic surgery may be a better option. Best of luck to you!

Answer: Face Drooping Due to Chronic Illness? Lasers and Fillers Can Help I’m sorry to hear you’ve been ill. Unfortunately, illness often ages us more rapidly and when we recover, the face may not recover 100%. When you are feeling better, an affirmative step to full recovery is to actually look healthy and vibrant. It is a time many patients choose to visit their local cosmetic dermatologist. There are many different options for rejuvenating your face, which would be determined in an office consultation. Some options might be Fraxel laser or IPL to resurface and brighten up the skin and ThermiTight or Ulthera to tighten it. You will likely need to replace lost volume with hyaluronic-acid based fillers such as Voluma. Looking like your younger self will help you feel like you used to. Please find a board-certified dermatologist who will take the time to evaluate your skin and facial anatomy and offer you a number of options to help you look as young as you feel.

Answer: Improving facial volume with Fillers (Radiesse, Voluma, Bellafill), Sculptra, implants, fat, rf therapy, ultherapy, thermirf This is difficult to answer without pictures and needs an in-person evaluation. Volume can be improved with fillers (Juvederm, Radiesse, Bellafill). I also recommend a combination of lasers or RF, sculptra for collagen building, microneedling/prp and skin care to help with skin rejuvenation and prevent aging. Kybella, Ultherapy and/or ThermiRF treatments (Venus Legacy) would be non-invasive options that would do well in combination for skin tightening. Please see a cosmetic dermatologist for a long term treatment plan. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Facial Sagging with Systemic Illness So sorry to hear you have been going through this. We have quite a number of patients who have noticed real facial changes with significant physical and other life stressors. For some, when these stressors resolve, their facial changes improve, but most need some help to return to their previous or improved state. It is very difficult to give you great advice without seeing you in person or at least pictures. Facial aging (caused by either time or added stressors) is usually a combination of changes in skin quality and volume loss. We treat skin quality with personalized combinations of BBL, Halo fractional resurfacing or if appropriate full field Sciton erbium resurfacing, Skintyte and Prp. Volume is restored in a natural fashion using pictures at a younger age as the perfect guide. Seek out a physician who specializes in non-surgical treatments to best address your concerns.

Answer: Aging from illness Hi there-- Unfortunately, I have found that volume loss and thinning of the skin (collagen loss) that happens during illness does not just self-correct if the illness resolves. I would recommend eating a really healthy diet and using a high-quality medical grade skin care regimen, and seek advice from an expert in aesthetics to find out what treatments might help to restore your healthy appearance.
