5’3”, 120lbs, 53 yrs old. I work out 5 days or more a wk. Had some stubborn little fat areas on waist, did lipo 360 7 mo ago. Everything healed well, but lower back looks bumpy, not smooth. Dr says nothing is wrong, but it looks weird now to show my back in anything. Can someone pls tell me what I can do/ what this is? Thanks!

Answer: Results from Liposuction of the back To make an assessment on the outcome of a surgical procedure we have to see before and after pictures. Without knowing where you started we can’t know what your surgeon did. Your lower back looks like it was over treated or treated very aggressively. Was this done using VASER? I’m guessing you’re a surgeon removed as much fat as he could thinking that more was better. In plastic surgery we have a same that goes “ perfect is the enemy of good“. Unfortunately Liposuction is permanent and more or less irreversible. Sometimes fat can be grafted to rebuild previously removed fat but it is technically very challenging after previous over treatment with Liposuction. Consider re-posting with before and after pictures. If you don’t have those then ask your surgeon to forward the ones they took. If you want a more accurate or formal assessment you’ll need to schedule an in person second opinion consultation. If you opt to do that you should come prepared with before and after pictures and a copy of your operative report. These are all part of your medical records which your provider will send you if you request them. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD

Answer: Adverse outcome following fat reduction surgery Hi and welcome to our forum! From your photos, I note irregular skin contour of the lower back which may be due to overcorrection. Attempts at improvement may include radiofrequency energy therapy and ultrasound therapy. These modalities may prove disappointing in some instances. Lipo-injection to the area may offer a degree of improvement. It is extremely difficult to correct.Revisit your plastic surgeon. If dissatisfied with his / her game plan, seek a second opinion. Best wishes...
