I received Voluma injections 6 days ago. I have quite a bit of swelling. Is this normal?

My jaw on one side is very stiff and sore. I haven't been able to chew without a lot of pain and can't open my mouth very wide. It's not red or hot and I don't have a fever. I have been applying heat and it seems to be a little better but not significantly. Is this normal?

Thank you for your question. Severe swelling is not normal following Voluma injection if done properly.. Some minor swelling is common after Juvederm Voluma injections which can be helped by icing the day of the procedure. Significant swelling or pain is not common and should be evaluated by your provider, to make sure you don't have an infection. Good luck.

It is normal to have stiffness and swelling after injections of fillers including Voluma.  If you're temples were injected then it may be sore when you chew.  While these symptoms can persist for several days, I would follow up with your injector as they will be most familiar with the amount of product you received, the location,, trip

Normal swelling from volume is typically symmetrical and does not usually result in difficulty opening the mouth.  It is likely that you developed a hematoma or bleeding in the deep tissues which can cause you to have the symptoms you describe.  Taking anti-inflammatory medications may help.  If your symptoms worsen visit your doctor.
