Can Voluma can be used to fill out the corners of the mouth?

I often mix products in the same region of the face, largely for the reason you mentioned.  That is to say you are using one type of filler in one area and want another region that only requires a small amount to be filled.  I would consider Voluma in the corners but would put the product a little deeper in the tissue and use small amounts at a time.

It's better to use another Juvederm product that targets something more superficially. Ultra or Ultra Plus would be preferred.

Usually, to volumetrically support the corners of the mouth, filler needs to be placed quite superficially.  Therefore, I would recommend against Voluma in this area, especially given the fact that there are numerous alternatives that work nicely in that area.Best of luck!

Thank you for your question.We do not recommend that Voluma be used in the area of the mouth.  It is a much thicker product and could leave rope like cords that could be noticeable.See two or more board certified providers in your area to see what might be right for you.Best wishes.

If the corners of your mouth are severely droopy, Juvederm Voluma® may be appropriate, but in most cases, Restylane®, Perlane® and Juvederm UPXC® are better choices for that area.

Voluma is indicated for mid-face volume loss or areas that need deep volume restoration. The oral commisures tend to be superficial and require a less dense hyaluronic acid filler. In my practice, Juvederm Ultra XC or Juvederm Ultra Plus XC are excellent dermal fillers to restore superficial volume loss in the low face. The angles of the mouth can also be "tilting down" due to a muscle called the depressor anguli oris. This muscle can also be conservatively injected with Botox to release the muscle and allow the corners to lift slightly. It is important to go to an experienced injector who can properly assess, determine the cause of the downturn and inject you appropriately. You can search for top Botox or Juvederm providers in your area. 

Voluma has not received FDA approval for superficial areas. Use with caution as it may be inappropriate for this area and could lead undesirable results.

I do not recommend Volume for superficial areas.  For your commissures (corner of mouth), I would recommend a Juvederm product.

Voluma should not be used in superficial locations, so it depends on the depths of the corners of your mouth. If you have deep creases and crevices then it may be ok, but if they aren't that deep, the Voluma cannot be placed deep enough under the skin and you will be left with weird puffiness in the area.
