I live out of state from the surgeon I want to use. It is a 3.5 hour flight. Can I have the procedure done and fly home then return the following week for the follow-up? I'd rather be in the comfort of my home where I'll have people to assist me as needed.
Answer: Lip Lift Flying The short answer is ask your surgeon because we each have our own preferences.Postoperatively, after a lip lift, you can anticipate bruising and swelling that will be noticeable to you and others for about 1 week. After the sutures are removed or dissolve, depending on the type used, there will be redness along the incision line for 4-6 weeks but this can be covered with makeup after about 10 days. Sometimes the upper lip lift is overcorrected with the initial procedure and will slowly assume its final position over weeks to months. I sometimes use dissolvable sutures for my out-of-state patients and they work well too. I would recommend flying at least the day after surgery. Gary Linkov, MD Lip Specialist Manhattan

Answer: Fly the same day of lip lift It is possible to fly the same day that the procedure is performed. I have had several patients do this as this is a minor procedure done under local. I usually leave the suture in for 2 weeks and the patient removes it themselves, since it is a simple pull-out suture. I prefer that to interrupted sutures that leave marks. Answer: Lip Lift Hi,I typically take half the sutures out at at 4 days and then the rest at 6 days. Sometimes you can take them all out at 6 days for out of town patients. The physical recovery for the lip lift is not bad and it may be overkill to take a total of 3 flights for one surgery. Best,

Answer: Flying back home after lip lift After lip lift you can fly back home the same day. Flying is forbidden after rhinoplasty, before stitches are out, but no such instructions for a lip lift. Best regards, Piotr Osuch

Answer: How soon can I fly after a bullhorn lip lift? Many times a patient will fly home the same day. Patients can do this since it is a minor procedure done under local anesthesia. Your surgeon will schedule suture removal and usually the following week is fine.
