What are the benefits of Restylane Kysse in comparison to Juvederm Ultra Plus XC? (Photo)

Hello! I am looking into getting lip fillers and many Med spas are now offering Restylane Kysse in addition to the traditional Juvederm lip fillers. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of either or filler and maybe advise me what filler would be best? I have fairly thin lips and I would like them to be much more full they are also asymmetrical on the bottom so I would like them to be symmetrical but don’t want it to look unnatural.

Lip fillers can work great in some patients and there are many different types. 
But they certainly have their risks and limitations. For example many patients end up with a duck-like appearance, an over-projected upper lip line, an overall over-filled appearance, and with the filler actually moving. 
On the other hand they can work great and appear very natural in a select group of patients. 
Your upper lip is not extremely thin, but you do appear to have a long philtrum (distance between your nose and upper lip). Some patients feel their lip is thin when actually their philtrum is too long. 
A lip lift will shorten your philtrum and reveal more of your upper lip. These will give provide you with a more robust upper lip appearance, and an overall more youthful and attractive appearance.

Hi,Thank you for your question and sharing your photo.Restylane and Juvederm are both HA products manufactured by competitor companies. The ingredients are the same but processed differently, which results in differences in product density, thickness, longevity, hydrophilicity, cohesiveness, etc.I would suggest selecting a provider that you share a similar aesthetic taste and allowing them to guide you with product selection. In my experience, it's best to gradually increase lip volume if your goal is very full lips while maintaining a natural result.Hope this helps!

Yes, I know they are heavily market for this application. However, both Restylane Kysse and Juvederm Ultra are so-called "smooth" fillers. That is marketing speak for runny. Why are runny fillers pushed by these companies for filler treatments? It is because they recognized that most people doing these services have no real skill at performing the treatment. The result is a lumpy, bumpy service that no one is happy with. When a runny filler is used such as the two filler you mention, after the service, these fillers spread out resolving the lumps and bumps. That takes care of the bumps, but there is a price to be paid. The fillers drift out of the lip causing unwanted issues like fullness above the lip (lip shelf) or even volume outside the lip below the nasolabial fold. This leads to the feeling that the service does not last. It is of course worse than that because you end up with volume in the wrong place. The fix is to use a high G prime filler. There are two on the market: Restylane and Restylane Lyft. Lyft is actually too firm to be that helpful for the lip. Restylane is the product you need. It stays precisely were placed and will give very nice lasting treatments that do not drift. The challenge is that you need filler who really knows how to place the product and can shape the treatment.

Multiple factors should be considered when deciding which lip filler to use and your provider should be able to help you through this. Restylane Kysse is a great product and one of my favorites for lip augmentation. It provides structure and also flexibility which results in noticeable yet natural lip enhancement. I find that Juvederm Ultra Plus provides considerable volume; however tends to look more "puffy." I have also found that this product provides a less natural appearance with animation as the product is less flexible. Patient goals, provider experience and preference should be considered when choosing a dermal filler.
