It is best to ask your surgeon about post operative care as each doctor has their unique regimen. You can wear hard hats when your wound has healed. This is usually in about one week.
We like our patients to wait 10 days before wearing a hardhat. At that point the grafts are firmly incorporated into the scalp and will not be injured.I would check with your doctor for instructions.
I would wait at least 2 weeks, and preferably a month if possible. At 2 weeks, the follicles should be anchored quite well, but a hard hat will cause a little more weight and trauma than the average hat. Best to be safe than sorry! Best of luck, Dr. G
You can wear a hard hat the day of and after your hair transplant. It depends which area of scalp has been transplanted. Our patients get a baseball hat as part of their post op kit from the office that they can wear and go home with. If we restore the temporal points, we may not use a hat for the first 4 days. After day 4 anyone can use a hat even if it couches the transplanted area. For more of how to take care of your transplanted hair after your hair restoration procedure check this page:
In answering your question, we typically tell patients to wait until atleast 8 to 10 days post Hair Restoration procedure, before they wear any form of hats. Just make sure it does not touch the recipient region, and allow it to breath every so often. Hope this helps.
You may start to wear a hat that is hard topped immediately after operation . But you have to wait 2 weeks after the FUE operation for any kind of hat that touches to transplant area and may cause friction.
I tell my patients to wait a full week after transplant surgery. You should, of course, check with your surgeon for his/her preferences.
You should ask your doctor but I generally tell my patients that they can use a hard hat provided it does not rub on the recipient area within 7 days
