I had HT 8 weeks ago, have shed most of my hair. Now I see few tiny hair poking through, not sure this is good sign or should I expect more at this stage? Also I underwent FUT procedure, does it mean I will have slower growth compared to FUE?

Answer: How Much Growth? Your grafted hairs usually start to shed 10-14 days after surgery and will continue to do so up until 8-10 weeks after. Therefore, you should expect to see little to no growth within the first 0-3 months of your surgery. After 3 months you should expect to see some hairs that will begin to sprout. It is strongly recommended to use to Rogaine twice daily starting 2 weeks after your surgery to help your grafts grow faster. If your scalp is sensitive, you can try using it once daily for 3 days a week. In terms of the two procedures, there is no difference in growth rate between FUE & FUT however the medical recovery time for FUE is generally shorter.

Answer: Questions to ask before a hair transplant. These questions really should have been discussed with your hair restoration doctor before you underwent the procedure. Before having a hair restoration you should fully know the differences between FUE and FUT, the growth timeline, info regarding shedding and the other intricacies of a hair restoration. At two months you should not expect any growth. Early growth has just started at the 3 month mark. At 6 months you will be at only about 50% growth, at 12 months you will be at roughly 90% growth. Remain patient and continue to follow your doctors post op care instructions.
