Kybella is being used for the jowls and is "off label." There can be an effect on the nerve that cause the corner of your mouth to turn up when you smile if injected too close to the nerve. The nerve function will improve over time. Kybella injected in the jowls is not for everyone. I recommend being evaluated by a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options.
Kybella is FDA cleared for the fat under the chin. When the chin area is treated, this should not lead to any enlargement of the jowl area. With that being said, there has been presentations at major meetings where clinicians are utilizing it, "off label" for areas such as the jowls. There is a technique utilized that helps to minimize complications in this area. When performed in this manner, it can give exceptional results with minimal dosage amounts. Other areas where Kybella have been used "off label" are for bra fat and small pockets of fat in the abdominal area and leg area.
