My double chin has grown in the last 6 months it feels like the skin is loose and puffy. Mornings it seems less puffy but it's bad. What bet option and estimated prices?
Answer: Options for Reducing a Double Chin: Kybella, Liposuction, Ultherapy, and CoolSculpting If you're considering options for reducing a double chin, there are several non-surgical and surgical treatments available, each with different mechanisms, recovery times, and costs. Here's a brief overview of the most popular options: Kybella: Mechanism: An injectable treatment that uses deoxycholic acid to break down fat cells in the chin area. Sessions Required: Typically 2-4 sessions, spaced about a month apart. Recovery: Mild swelling and bruising are common and can last a few weeks. Cost: Approximately $600 to $1,200 per session. Liposuction: Mechanism: A surgical procedure that physically removes fat from the chin area. Recovery: Requires downtime, with swelling and bruising lasting for several weeks. Cost: Typically ranges from $3,000 to $5,000. Ultherapy: Mechanism: Uses ultrasound energy to stimulate collagen production, tightening and lifting the skin. Sessions Required: Usually a single session, but some may require additional treatments. Recovery: Minimal downtime, with some mild redness or swelling possible. Cost: Approximately $1,500 to $3,000 per session. CoolSculpting: Mechanism: A non-invasive procedure that freezes and destroys fat cells. Sessions Required: Usually 1-2 sessions for optimal results. Recovery: No downtime, but some temporary redness, swelling, or discomfort may occur. Cost: Approximately $700 to $1,500 per session. Each of these treatments has its benefits and considerations, and the best choice will depend on your specific situation, including the amount of fat and skin laxity, your desired results, and your budget. It is advisable to consult with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who can evaluate your needs and recommend the most suitable treatment plan for you. They can also provide a more accurate cost estimate based on your specific case and location.

Answer: Chin Liposuction and Thermitight Chin liposuction helps reduce the bulge under the chin and can be done for the whole neck. Once the fat is removed the skin can become loose and saggy in some cases. It can be avoided by combining it with Thermitight which is a radiofrequency heat delivered under the skin to tighten it. Both chin liposuction and Thermitight can be done at the same time. The recovery is fast and it can be done under local anesthesia. Click on the video link below Regards Dr. J

Answer: You may be a candidate for neck liposuction General, liposuction works best with exercise resistant fat. In that regard, if you have some weight to lose, that is always a good first start. In our experience, subcutaneous liposuction of the neck is the most reliable way to permanently improve upon somebody's double chin and jawline. There is minimal downtime, and surgery can be performed with local anesthetic. In our opinion, this is a much better approach than injectable treatments, like kybella. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Double chin has grown in the last six months Much more information is needed, such as your age, and your BMI. From these limited photographs, you have fat compartments located BOTH above and below the platysma muscle in your neck. Liposuction alone will be only minimally effective because you have a significant component of your fat is located below the muscle. This will require a neck lift procedure to remove the fat above the muscle with liposuction, and surgical extraction of fat below the muscle, which also includes a platysma plasty to significantly improve your jawline. You need to be an excellent health and a BMI of less than 32 before considering this procedure which is performed under General anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. The non-invasive treatments simply will be of no benefit.

Answer: Choosing procedure To get the ride out, it helps if we first have a clear understanding of what the underlying primary problem is. In your case, and in the case of almost all people with a premature double chin which goes hand-in-hand with loss of jawline definition is an under developed mandible. Addressing the primary problem which is the size of the job bone is a bit involved so most providers are going to attempt soft tissue solutions for a problem which is inherently based on skeletal structure. We do seem to carry a few extra pounds and weight loss is probably your best place to start. Liposuction probably is the best procedure. That said There is a quite significant difference in outcomes when it comes to liposuction depending on providers selection. I cannot emphasize this enough. Unfortunately, both patients and providers tend to think of Liposuction as a fairly simplistic procedure, which it is not. Doing these procedures well on a consistent basis with predictable outcomes it’s much more difficult than most people realize. In order to understand your candidacy for this procedure we need to know a lot more information, especially your age, weight or BMI and any history of weight fluctuations. In the end, finding the right provider is the most important variable. Finding the right plastic surgeon to work with is also inherently difficult, and most people aren’t very good at it. My best recommendation is to have several in person consultations with plastic surgeons who seem to have a good track record for this procedure. Look for plastic surgeons, who are excited about doing liposuction and have an impressive number of before and after pictures of just this procedure on their website. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
