How do BOOST implants compare to Xtra?

Question

I currenty have Mentor Xtra mod+ 295 (11.5cm/4.0cm). I need them replaced due to CC, under warranty. My new PS isn't well verses with mentor. He suggests switching to regular Memory Gel with UH profile, 350cc. Says my currents are too wide. I am 5'6" 115 lb, 28 bra band. Going with subfascial again. I'm conccerned I will get rippling but I also want soft/squishy feel. How does BOOST compare to Xtra in terms of feel? Isn't regular memory gel much more likely to ripple?

Boost implants are more cohesive (more firm) than Xtra, so they will hold a more round shape than the Xtra implants.  They also show less ripples than Xtra.  On the other hand, Memory Gel are less firm than Xtra so they will show more ripples.  All of those implants styles have the option to use a more narrow version which may look better on your body.  If you already have contracture with subfascial plane, then you should talk to your surgeon about the option to switch to submuscular plane as this may provide less chance of recurrent contracture. The Xtra line is Mentor's version of overfilled implants filled with regular memory gel. The Boost line is essentially the same as the Xtra line, but with highly cohesive gel. You are right to want an optimally filled highly cohesive device. I'd be concerned about going bigger if you already have cc. Further, it is important that an inframammary incision is used for your revision and that the surgeon perform a total capsulectomy to reduce your chance of recurrence.

If you maintain implants that are relatively similar in projection and diameter, then the texture of the gel isn’t going to have all that much impact.
I think you have other variables that are much more likely to be a far greater significance than the exact model of implants being used.
 There is no sub facial plane on the central pectoralis muscle.If you simply google anatomy and pectoralis muscle, you will see there are only little areas of fascia at the origin and insertion, which is pretty far away from where the implants sit.
Implants are either above the muscle, or below the muscle.
There is no fascia plane to put an implant under. Don’t take my word for it. Look at anatomy books yourself to confirm. Most of the plastic surgeons who have extensive breast, implant experience and end up focusing their career on this procedure tend to generally prefer sub muscular placement of the implants.
It is a technically more difficult operation, but has a lot of advantages.
One of them is lowering capsular contraction rates.
To avoid rippling, I suggest using more cohesive type gel and avoiding higher profile implantsUsing excessively large implants, will also increase the chance of undesirable outcomes, complications, and need for revision surgery. Generally speaking, the choice of provider is the most important variable.
