I've had dark circles for several years now and haven't really been able to find anything that reduces their appearance much. I've tried some peels, IPL, and even some minor microneedling in the area, but haven't noticed much difference. I'm interested in hearing of any potential options that may exist to address them.
Answer: PRP under eye injections Hi @qsb4u86! I would recommend PRP under eye injections. PRP which stands for Platelet Rich Plasma is a natural and non-surgical solution to treat under eye circles and bags. PRP is highly effective for restoring sunken eyes. This treatment is also great for hyperpigmentation. Generally, two vials of blood will be collected from the patient and placed into a centrifuge. The centrifuge spins and separates the platelets from the rest of the blood components. The plasma contains the valuable collagen and growth factors from the rest of the blood's components. The plasma is then drawn up into a syringe and injected in the tear trough area. Typically, 3 sessions is adequate for optimal results.

Answer: When nonsurgical treatments are not effective, surgery may be the next step Hello, and thank you for your question. If non-surgical options such as peels, lasers, and fillers did not give you the results you desire, you may also consider a lower blepharoplasty procedure. Lower blepharoplasty is an eyelid surgery that creates a smoother transition from the lower eyelid to the cheek. A highly skilled surgeon can customize the procedure to address various issues such as loose or wrinkled skin of the lower eyelid, excess puffiness or bags under the eyes, sagging eyelids, and loss of volume in the cheek area by eliminating excess skin or fat under the eyes and restoring volume through fillers. I highly recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with a reputable board-certified facial plastic surgeon. Your surgeon can do a proper evaluation of your skin, determine your eligibility for any procedure, recommend the best treatment plan, and ensure the best possible outcome.

Answer: Dark Circles/Eye Bags/Wrinkles - Fillers (Belotero, Juvederm Volbella); Lasers (Fraxel/CO2); Renuvion; Microneedling/PRP; Peels At home peels like cosmelan, enlighten and aerify along with dermarolling (MTS roller with anteage MD ampules) should be started now. There are many things you can do to treat under eye hollows and dark circles. A surgical option to remove skin and/or fat will such as lower eyelid blepharoplasty with or without fat pad repositioning will be the best long term. There are many things you can do to treat under eye hollows and dark circles without surgery. Non invasive less downtime options such as fillers (Belotero, Juvederm Volbella), lasers (Moxi/Halo/Fraxel/CO2), Renuvion (J-Plasma), microneedling/PRP, stem cells and microneedling RF like Fractora PiXel8 or Morpheus can all help give some improvement. Accutite can often be used or stronger lasers like erbium or co2 spot treatment can tighten the skin and give very quick improvement in wrinkles and texture. A surgical option to remove skin and/or fat might be the best solution long-term. I suggest you get a formal consultation to see what is best for you and your goals. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Treatment for Dark Circles Hi and thank you for your question! The treatment for dark circles really depends on the underlying cause. If it is caused by congestion or actual skin darkening, treatments that affect pigmentation such as peels or IPL might help. However if the root cause is volume loss that creates a shadow, then your best bet is to do volume restoration with fillers that can greatly help. You can try for yourself to see if by shining light upward on your face, the appearance of dark circles is reduced or not. If they look better, then it you will be likely to see improvements with fillers under the eyes. I hope it helps and good luck!

Answer: There's no cure for "allergic shiners"... Dark purple discoloration involving delicate under eye skin is usually due to years of having an allergic nasal condition. This may lead to hemosiderin deposition deep in the under eye area, and to my knowledge, there is no good treatment for this. Peels, microneedling, IPL and laser treatments will not help. Thank you. Dr Joseph
