I am from the UK and would like butt implants. Where's the best place to go for this procedure?

Regarding buttock augmentation, let me start off by saying that I currently see at least 1 - 2 patients per week that failed "brazilian buttock lift" (i.e. the fat melted away after 10 - 12 months) and are now seeking a more reliable and permanent option (i.e. buttock implants). One of the most important factors in creating the perfect derriere with implants is indeed selecting the right size AND shape. I have found the best way to assure this is to simply measure the actual dimensions of the patient’s buttock cheeks. With these anatomical measurements, I can select an implant that not only significantly augments the buttock but also supplies the correct 3-dimensional enhancement to look as real as possible. Therefore the only way for you to know what implant works best is to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon specializing in this procedure and have him/her take your measurements before selecting an implant and proceeding with surgery. The largest stock buttock implant currently available in the USA is a 690cc round implant. Indeed custom implants can be ordered larger, not only at a premium price but at a premium risk for most patients'. Unlike breast implants which are placed under the very expandable tissue of the breast and half of the pectoral major muscle, buttock implants are (most preferably) placed under (or at least within) the largest strongest muscle of the body, the gluteus maximus muscle, which is not nearly as expandable or forgiving. Thus most patients simply do not have a large enough native buttock muscle to fit an implant much over 500 ccs', without leading to significant complication such as wound breakdown/opening &/or implant exposure...necessitating removal. Some of those sought after video-vixen and celeb-types (without mentioning names) with cartoonish bottoms could have either gotten extremely lucky with a huge oversized implant (very unlikely if properly placed under the muscle), had a very large volume of filler injected such as silicone or hydrogel (all NOT recommended because of high risk of severe infections and/or hardening or even deadly consequences), and/or have been genetically "blessed".I generally do not recommend fat grafting at the same time as placing buttock implants because of a significantly increased risk of infection. For fat to survive it must be grafted into muscle, however that is also where the implant sits. Thus, if fat it injected into the implant or implant pocket then it will die and almost assuredly get infected - necessitating removal of the implant as well. Fat transfer later on must be done very carefully and cautiously, preferably by the original surgeon, for the very same reasons as above. Nonetheless, buttock implants are a proven safe and effective method of buttock augmentation as long as the recommendations of a board certified plastic surgeon specialist are adhered to.Glad to help.

Dear Roxanne,     I understand why butt implants are not popular in the UK. It is for the same reason that not many surgeons are doing it in the US. They are concerned about the possible complications. That is why you have to do a careful due diligence in selecting your surgeon. Always consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons who do lots of butt implants surgery in accredited surgery center for your safety. Not all results are the same, since there are different techniques, different implants and different skills. In your case, since you are seeking  large implants, it is especially important that you find a surgeon who uses the sub fascia technique, because it allows for placement of large implants , unlike the intra muscular technique. The biggest implants that I have used is 660 cc ultra soft  silicone. You ask a very good question.Two procedures are available available in the US for buttock and gluteal augmentation: fat harvesting and transfer and gluteal silicone implants. Both operations are good if they fit the patient. Every patient is different. For example a very slim person would probably do better with buttock implants. Sometimes I have used both fat transfer and also buttock implants.The key to buttock augmentation with fat is not the amount of fat. It is the contouring of the back performed. That requires considerable technical effort.The beauty of the gluteal implants is that give a more perky, beautiful and round shape to the buttocks. Also the incision is hidden within the buttock crease.Buttock implants is one of the most beautiful operations due to the results.

goal. Buttock implants are
your only option for significant buttock enlargement, but you need to be
realistic about the size. The size of the implant would depend on your
measurement and amount of tissue you have to cover the implant.

surgery abroad and not only because it's cheap. México is famous for Plastic

a Plastic Surgeon: Make sure that you have a good r with your surgeon. He needs
to understand your esthetics, your specific needs and concerns and you need to
feel that he would be able to give you what you want.

for yourself.

does not mean more skill.



When
searching internationally for a doctor, you may discover a wide variance in
price. A lower price does not automatically mean lower quality, but could
simply indicate a different economic environment from the one you are in -and
may be reflected in price of all commodities and services. Rather than
initially basing your decision on price, consider first reviewing the surgeon’s
profile, credentials, years of experience, and before and after photos for
people with similar concerns. Then, factor in the differences in price between
