Hello all! This is only my 2nd review so I hope I'm doing this right. I should have started it earlier in the process, but at least I'm doing it now. I've been wanting to get butt implants for many, many years. I've always been small but managed to gain almost 20 pounds a few years ago so that I could have it sucked out and put into my lateral gluteal depressions. I didn't have enough for a full BBL, and filling in my side butt dents was my main concern anyway. It looked great for a few years, but as I lost the weight and went back to my normal size, my fat was disappearing, also. I think about half reabsorbed. I don't regret that procedure, though, because it really helped with my shape. I tended to gain weight around my flanks, and that is where the fat was taken from. I don't gain weight there anymore so that's a plus, too! Anyway, I knew that I didn't want to try and gain weight again so I started researching butt implants, mainly on Real Self and on Make Me Heal. I heard a lot of negative comments from doctors and some negative from the reviewers, as well, but because of the fact that I'm in good health, don't smoke, and planned on following the doctor's orders to a "T," I decided to go for it. I planned on doing it in the US at first because there are some girls on here that have gotten really good results from US doctors, however, after more research, I decided that I wanted to get it done out of the country so I could have the cohesive gel implants because they are softer (I actually got to feel both in my surgeon's office, and they are, indeed, quite a bit softer). I didn't go out of the country for a better price because with hotel/air travel it has definitely been more expensive for me to do it this way. I narrowed it down to Gongora, Gutierrez, and Cerpa. I chose Cerpa because he sent me the most detailed responses to my questions and the best photographs of his work. I was EXTREMELY nervous to come here (I'm still here in Tijuana in a hotel) and do this. Even though my consult with him the night before my surgery lasted THREE HOURS (due to all of my questions), I still almost chickened out. I literally almost just decided to not do it even though I came all this way. One thing that I decided to do was to go with a lot smaller of implant than I had originally chosen. He ordered 275 cc and 300 cc (I'm wanting to do this without a big change...just add a little more fullness and widen my hip area). When I saw how big they were, it just freaked me out. He ordered 200 cc and 250 cc oval shape (to widen the hip area, as I already had a little projection) that night. I went with the 200 cc so that they wouldn't be so obvious, although Dr. Cerpa said that the 250 cc would look better (which they probably would). The next day I spent even more time with him marking me up (literally like almost a half hour), and then I took a pill to relax me to give me the epidural. The surgery seriously took way over 6 hours, but I only was really awake during the last 2 hours of it, and I was watching concerts on an ipod! I think I remember Marc Anthony on one of them, as a matter of fact! My body was completely numb from the waist down, though, so I felt no pain. I'd never had an epidural so it was REALLY weird when they were moving my legs after surgery, like they weren't attached to my body...super freaky. The recovery wasn't (isn't) bad. The first night was a breeze (granted, I have a really high pain tolerance). The next day I could not bend over or squat AT ALL. The short taxi to the hotel was not fun. Now that I'm settled in, though, things are way better. The only thing painful to me are the drains. I'm ready to get them out but dreading it at the same time. I'll be recovering at Hotel Real Del Rio for two weeks. Dr. Cerpa comes by everyday and drains my tubes and has even brought me really good food every night, too! I wasn't expecting that so it was a pleasant surprise. I'll continue this review later. Take care, girls! I'll add before/after photos at the end. Updated on 7 Feb 2014: Day 8 has not been fun. I was informed last night by my doctor that I should start lying on my back some throughout the day. I tried, but the drains just make things too painful for that. I'm expecting to get my drains out on Sunday. I figure I will switch to my back more at that point. My concerns right now are: what the scars from the drains will look like the actual scar not sealing completely before I leave and... Yes, of course, I did choose too small of a size, but I knew if I accidentally went too big I would be completely depressed while I was here. I also seriously don't want anyone to know except my boyfriend (duh) and my best friend. The plus size to choosing a small size is that I doubt anyone will assume I went and did this, AND I don't have to get all new clothes. I have some really cute clothes that I'm excited that I will look a lot better in! Even my sweats that I'm wearing down here look a lot better! So far I'm still happy with my choice...just nervous about the above concerns. Updated on 7 Feb 2014: I meant the plus "side," not size...ha Updated on 8 Feb 2014: I had a couple of tears come to my eyes as I tried to pull my garment over my drains, especially on the left side. The tubes go from inside your muscle cavity and through the tissues and skin so if you can imagine, it's quite uncomfortable. When he came by tonight I had him wrap and tape the drain area so it would be less mobile and cause less rubbing. It has really helped. One thing I was really worried about today and Googling my butt off about was leaving here with an open wound. I've had liquid coming out of the incision the past two days, but when Dr. Cerpa looked at it with a light he said that the wound is actually still closed (yay) and that the liquid is due to the retractor, which is the surgical instrument used to pull your skin apart. It kills the fat cells and causes them to turn to liquid. That news made me really happy. Just to be on the safe side, though, I purchased another round of antibiotics and some tissue granulation medication that's in powder form that causes the wound to dry up. I hope it works. By the way, a doctor cleaning, inspecting, and powdering your rear becomes "un-awkward" pretty quickly because of how much help you have to have the first couple of days. I came down here alone so they had to help me with EVERYTHING...putting on socks, garment, shoes, pants...yeah, you get to know each other at rapid speed! ha ha Updated on 9 Feb 2014: Last night was pretty miserable because of the drains irritating me no matter how much gauze is packed around them, and my catheter is starting to make me feel like I'm getting a bladder infection. I had the urge to urinate really bad all night, and no matter how much I madaged to go, it never went away. I believe today will be the day it comes out...so that will be one tube down the drain and 2 more to go! Updated on 9 Feb 2014: "managed," not madaged. Does anyone else find it extremely annoying that we can't go in and edit our posts? Maybe we can, and I just don't know how! Updated on 11 Feb 2014: I have been lying on my back for the past couple of nights. It doesn't feel weird (probably because my implants are so small) or hurt because my drains came out last night, and I feel so much better! I thought it was really going to hurt, but he gave me a pill to relax me and a numbing agent. Actually the 2 injections he gave me last night hurt worse than the drains coming out. The injections were an analgesic and an anti inflammatory. I don't know how much the drain exits are draining still because they are bandaged up. Here are my worries now: I didn't go big enough (this was a given, and I figured I would do this). When I bend over really far there is a dent above the implant. I actually couldn't even sleep last night because it was worrying me so much. I'm afraid I didn't have enough fat to cover this implant. I researched and researched about it last night but couldn't find much information as to why it looks like this. My incision is still not completely closed. He said I was actually at about 5 cm deep. I thought it had closed and was just draining some fluid, but this appears to not be the case. I will have to clean and care for this wound on my own over the next month. I hope I don't get an infection. If anyone has any insight on this please let me know!!! I will ask the doctor when he comes to clean my incision tonight about the implant being visible. Updated on 13 Feb 2014: Tonight when Dr. Cerpa came by he shot me an antibiotic in my lower butt and shot some anesthetic around the drain sites so he could clean them and then scrape them. That would have really hurt had he not numbed it because I could still feel it! He has apparently been cleaning and scraping the incision, too, but it must still be numb because I haven't really felt it. He put some more granulation tissue in the incision and bandaged me up. It's still open, but the drainage doesn't have an odor, and it's red, which is a good thing. It's trying to dry up (I wish it would hurry on up). I also showed him my area of concern with my implant possibly showing, but I have to bend over like I'm going to touch my toes to see it. I guess it's kind of a trade off. If you put more in the muscle, it's going to stick out more, which is what you want. The implant itself isn't visible because it's inside my muscles, but now my muscle sticks out more. I think if you're skinny you have to deal with these problems. It's kind of like with my breast implants. I was Googling "implant rippling," which is what I'm experiencing right now, and all the doctors say that thinner women have a higher risk of experiencing this because there's less tissue coverage. It also says that exercising this area can make it worse so if any of you have that problem, there's a good excuse to skip the gym! Today, believe it or not, was my first venture out of my room besides walking down to the lobby to pay 2 times and once to switch rooms because my heater wouldn't work (it was actually in the 40s at night, and I just dealt with it because I didn't want to move my body). I saw the daylight! I tried to walk to a store to get yogurt, which will help put the good bacteria back in my tummy since all the antibiotics have depleted them. I got around the corner and realized I had no idea where I was going and also didn't want to run across the traffic with a traumatized rear end so I came straight back to the room. I'll attempt again tomorrow. Updated on 13 Feb 2014: Just to clarify, when I mentioned ''implant rippling," I was referring to my boobies. The butt cannot ripple. I figured you all knew that, but just in case, I wanted to throw that in there! Updated on 19 Feb 2014: I just wanted to do a quick update. I'm back home now. The plane ride was very uncomfortable because of the internal stitches I have on my left side that are sharp on my tissues. I sqirmed the whole time. My incision is still a gaping hole, but that is very common with its placement. It's just red, though, and is not infected. I found Manuka Honey (I double checked with the surgeon) is a good thing to put in the incision, along with the granulation tissue. They both are similar in their actions, but the honey also acts as an antiseptic. Lying down and putting granulation tissue and honey is your butt crack is quite the chore. I will email anyone pictures if they'd like to see the results (and befores). I'm not quite comfortable posting them on here. Updated on 20 Feb 2014: Until last night I was happy with my result, but at this point I would never recommend a skinny girl to get butt implants. I want to make it clear that I'm not bashing butt implants or my doctor. I still feel like they're a good choice for some people and that my doctor placed them correctly, HOWEVER, as the swelling subsided (I thought it was already gone) it left me with a visible outline around the whole implant that sticks out, is painfully obvious, and looks like theass of an alien. I'm not kidding. I'm waiting for a response from my surgeon, but this is not looking good and is very depressing. I would do anything to take it back, and I'm very scared. Updated on 20 Feb 2014: If any of you have had a similar situation, can you please, please message me? ....whether you are easing my worries or giving me bad news, I would like to hear from you. Updated on 21 Feb 2014: My surgeon contacted me. We will be talking Saturday, but he said in the meantime to be patient so that the muscles can stretch and the implant outline can soften. He's been pretty on point with everything else so far so I'm going to try to put my trust in that answer. The only reason I'm afraid that it might not be satisfactory is because it will have to soften A LOT for it to look remotely natural. I can see the whole implant and not just the outline even when I just lean forward or go to sit. I'm hoping he's right because I really don't want to have to get these removed! While I'm here updating I'll give you a rundown of some costs. Some people will be different if you need more medications, a different size garment, need to stay longer at the clinic, etc. This is just what I paid. Yours might be different. $4,800 surgery/anesthesia/24 hour nurse/implants/supplies/clinic stay with food and drinks $390 plane ticket $140 Transport roundtrip to/from San Diego airport $90 garment $200 antibiotics/anti inflammatories/Debrisan(if wound opens)/antiseptics $1,500 Hotel stay (I stayed a few days extra) $5 taxi after surgery (you can walk to the clinic. It's so close, but you need to take one from the clinic after your stay there) I can't think of anything else right now. About hotels: I stayed at the Hacienda Del Rio the night before surgery. It was really nice, and the room service was good (didn't want to get out at night by myself), but for a Wednesday night, it was LOUD until very late. I was right on the street, though, so if you move around back I think you'll be okay. It would be a good choice, and it has free breakfast, good WiFi, big beds, clean. I went to the Hotel Real Del Rio for the rest of my stay, although, if I didn't have tubes hanging out of my body I probably would have moved back to the first one just to save a few bucks (not really enough to matter. It's a really good hotel, and it has higher level rooms so it can be quieter, but it, too, has a club across the street and loud music on the weekends and some other nights. The beds were comfy, the room service was really good (although don't order salads if you want to have dressing on the side because they'll have no clue what the heck you're talking about. I finally gave up after receiving a salad with no dressing at all, a salad with no cheese, and a salad that had so much dressing on it that it was like soup..no joke), and the WiFi works. The only issue I had was the fact that my king bed room when I got there had no a/c or heat (it was cold at night), and I was uncomfortable because of that but too lazy to move because I had gotten all of my junk unpacked before i realized no one was going to fix it (or could fix it ...or knew what I was saying...not sure which). I moved a few days in to a different room with two beds. It works out better that way because the doctor can clean you on one, and you can sleep on the other (Hacienda has double beds, too, and they're bigger). Updated on 12 Mar 2014: This is from the doctor: Hope you have been well. I had sent you an e-mail, responding your questions. Please could you inform me you, how are you, and how is you healing process. Thanks, Dr. Orlando Figueroa Cerpa I sent him this: ''Hello. I need some questions addressed, please. I'm respecting that the full results aren't evident yet, but I need to know some things so I can plan/prepare for an additional surgery if it's neccessary. Is there a possibility that I may not have enough fat and/or muscle to have these implants? I know I need to wait on them to settle, but I need to know if there is a chance that they may have to come out." He said: Definitely you don’t have too much fat in the gluteal area and your muscles are not very thick, this is the reason because you don’t have a big butt. Now you need to evaluate or balance about the total positives aesthetic results in your butt area and your total body before surgery and after surgery having the implants; even with your concern about the out lining. Like any operation there are risks and benefits to any procedure. Over time your body and mind will accommodate the implant it as its own just like breast implants. The implants will look and feel more natural over time ( 6 months after surgery). About the out lining, you have to understand that the implants placed between the muscle are stretching out the muscle, some fat and the your skin, but your butt look great, with time the out lining will smooth out. About your results the implants are placed in the correct position, very symmetrical getting you a beautiful shape of your butt Before surgery your buttocks, it is also quite “square” in shape which make you look or characterized by straight lines and square volumes in the picture after the surgery even the out lining from the implants, you look/have curvy, shapely lines and round volumes. Before surgery you had square shape butt. with the implants now you have “A-shape buttocks; and now you have a several characteristics which I feel contribute to keeping your buttocks permanently round-shaped. These include: 1.- Now you have a greatest projection, and this is located exact where should be. I feel there is enough projection in the middle and lower areas; look at the bottom of your butt cheek, your butt looks soft and does flow nicely with your posterior thigh. 2.- Your butt crease is less visible, and now is shorter because the implants are lifting the whole tissues (muscle, some fat and skin), producing fullness in the lower aspect of your buttocks. 3.- Your outer thigh bone (trochanteric) depression, with the implants now is very shallow. 4.-Your buttocks fat with the implants it is more firmness 5.- Your muscle with the implants is more firmness and have great tone. A beautiful butt is round-shaped and firm, regardless the out lining from the implants 6.- From the back you look more curvy now, you have a better cup at the bottom, at the top and sides (butt smile) Even the out lining producing by the implants when you "walk" your implants move ( I mean there is jiggle) and if you watch the space where your butt meets your folds is very natural. Now you have a greatest projection, and this is located exact where should be. I feel there is enough projection in the middle and lower areas. Is under the muscle a better way to place the implants if you're thin? Have you seen any girl's implants look this way and then become more natural? The buttock implant should always be placed within the gluteus maximus muscle. In this position, the implant is less palpable, less visible, and does not sag or shift/migrate over time. Under the gluteus muscle implant placement produce projection just on top of butt area, the reason is because in this plane (under the muscle) the pocket dissection can not move down, there is the sciatic nerve there. Then placement the implants under the muscle tend to give a lot of projection in the upper portion of the buttocks. In your case you had loose skin in the inferior gluteal area and a little volume, then the indication was placing the implants intra-muscular, where it is possible to move the pocket dissection down the buttock’s inferior aspect while avoiding injury to the sciatic nerve; this way to get a better inferior gluteal fullness and to lift the whole tissues (skin, muscle and fat) there, this produce better aesthetic results in patients requiring inferior gluteal fullness like you. How long do I need to wait to remove them if they don't start to look more normal? I advise you to evaluate the benefits that you have with the implants and think you about how you would look after removing them. Please see the attachment files and judge and evaluate by yourself. Best regards, Dr. Orlando Figueroa Cerpa Updated on 14 Mar 2014: but I'll start with this Before and After Updated on 14 Mar 2014: I'm not sure if I'm glad I did this yet or not. Updated on 18 Mar 2014: Thank you for getting back to me. I am sorry to hear that you are not happy with your butt implants. Honestly I think and my experience about the visible outline of your implants, is in relation about your own perception and about your thoughs. You need to be realistic and have real expectations, again you need to evaluate how you look better even with the outline, before or after your surgery. For me you look great even with the outline; this is a very difficult surgery, you have invested considerable effort in getting the implants so it would seem reasonable to attempt to try wait the advise time. Just like implants anywhere in the body (breast implants, hips implants, arms implants, legs implants, etc.) your implants will look and feel more natural over time (6 months after surgery), after they have settled in; then over time your body and mind will accommodate it as its own just like breast implants, cheeks implants, nose implants, etc. If you don’t have enought fat under your skin, and your muscles are thin in your butt área, then when you bent over you will see the outline of your bones, the same is for the face, people who have cheek implants, breast implants if they loss to much weight you will see the outline of the cheek implants and the outline of the orbital bone , nose bone, jaw bone, etc. Is the same for the arms and legs. Then i advise to gain a few Lbs. to camouflage the implant outline when you bend over. If you look at your breast implants when you bent over you wil see the outline of your breast implants, if you squezze them you will see the outline too. The process of healing for buttocks implant procedure requires the formation of a scar tissue around the implants. This will keep the implant from moving. This process starts at one week and is maximal at six weeks. After that, the palpability and the outline will decrease, but it takes four to six months for the implants to be incorporated in the body image where patient will forget about them. Overall palpability and the outline is directly related to the amount of fat present. Please I need to see your pictures standing up, sitting, bending down different views: front, side (left and right), oblique and posterior views to evaluate you. Best Regards, Dr. Orlando Figueroa Cerpa
Cerpa Review It’s been almost 2.5 years since I’ve had my surgery with Cerpa. I traveled to Mexico not because of money (his price was not cheap) but because I thought that he would give me the best results I was looking for. I had butt implants placed intramuscular and fat graft to my hips/butt to help blend the outline of the implants. He performed lipo on my stomach, lower back, and sides to harvest the fat and give me a better shape. Now, let me start off by talking about the Pros of going to Cerpa- He has great bedside manners. Spent a lot of time with me post-op to make sure everything was healing correctly. But that’s the only pro. Here are all the cons: While I was in Mexico, my blood work indicated my hemoglobin levels were low. But he performed the surgery anyway. The surgery lasted 10+ hours. I woke up several times during surgery. I woke up while he was inserting my butt implants and I woke up again when he was doing the fat graft to my hips. He does not use real drains. He uses syringes as drains. I had a small seroma on my left butt cheek because the tubing got clogged. Cerpa was able to take a needle/syringe to get the blood out. However, now, underneath my skin, I can feel a small lump of scar tissue. My butt implants are POINTY. NOT natural at all. The lipo on my stomach left it uneven. One side is smaller than the other. I understand that butt implants will never be 100% natural. And my goals for this procedure were very realistic. I was not expecting to look like a goddess afterwards. However, this “pointiness” is not natural. My left butt implant is higher than my right butt implant. Though my implants were placed intramuscular, he placed them in a position where there is a very small amount of muscle on top of the implants when he should have placed them lower. I have compared my butt implants to my friend who went to a popular surgeon in Mexico. Her butt implants are about the same cc size as mine. We both have round cohesive gel implants. However, her implants are wider in diameter and smaller in projection. My implants are smaller in diameter and bigger in projection. Since they are the same brand and about the same size, the diameter/projection should be very similar. BUT THEY ARE NOT. I’ve talked to different doctors (in the US and also international doctors in South America) and they say that there is a possibility that Dr. Cerpa used breast implants instead of butt implants. 2.5 years later, I’m regretting my decision of going to Cerpa. Butt augmentation is expensive and time consuming. I spent $7800 to get botched. I’m in the process of researching doctors for a revision in butt implants and also to fix my stomach. Updated on 22 Jun 2017: I had surgery yesterday with a doctor in Colombia (Dr. Mejía) to revise my botched butt that Cerpa left me with. The new doctor told me that the implants were placed too close to the surface and that is why they are so fake looking. He also said that they were too small as well. I texted Dr. Mejía and he told me that I had BREAST IMPLANTS place in my BUTT. WTFFFFFFF. Dr. Mejía uses cohesive gel butt implants and knows the differences between a breast implant and a butt implant. I honestly don't think he had a reason to lie to me, as I did not mention my suspicions to him. PLEASE stay away from Cerpa. It's not worth it at all. I usually am not one to write reviews, but I wrote this one to share my bad experience and warn ladies. I do not want anyone going through what I went through.
He used breast implants instead of butt implants. Now, my butt is pointy. I went to him because I thought that he would give me the best results and the results that I was looking for. Now I'm researching for a doctor for a redo.
I had butt implant and fat grafting to hips with dr Orlando Figueroa Cerpa this review is very important, I want to warn everyone about dr Orlando Figueroa cerpa in Tijuana, please This is an 100% true story. Do not go to this surgeon, I have heard bad reviews about dr Cerpa before but I didn't listen and decided to go anyway ,that mistake almost cost my life.. He did my blood work before surgery my hemoglobin blood level was only 10', he told me it was still fine to get butt implant and fat grafting even while my blood level was so low, I trusted him. I was under anesthesia for 12 hours, I woke up during the surgery and felt him cutting me, I was yelling! After surgery at my recovery room, I passed out on my way to the bathroom, his staff helped me get back up to bed... Then I felt asleep, I little later I woke up and was terrifying because I couldn't hear anything buT this extremely loud ringing in my ears. I was panicking, the doctor and nurses came to my room and. was trying to figure out what's going on with me. I can tell they were speaking to me but I couldn't Hear anything... At that moment I thought that was it, like seriously I thought I was dying, I was in extreme pain. I was thinking what have I done to myself, my loves one are going to be devasted! Then felt asleep. woke up in the morning and was so surprise That I was alive, I'm very emotional writing this it brings back memories. More torture to the story, my insision of the butt implant opened, then I had burn mark from lipo area and developed Seroma from my lipo. he had to take a niddle and poke a whole on the lump full of liquid from the Seroma. that was so painful, I was crying so bad. Man I was in so much pain.. The drain was also so painful !! Anyway i couldn't take it anymore, I decided to go back to the U.S. And went assap to the E.R... They seen my botched butt implant with an oppening at the incision, burn marks, seroma, smh, at E.R after blood work they told me I had a high infection on my blood and I can get septic shock. Of course they took out my implant. They gave me strong antibiotic to fight the infection. I was so relieve when I became healthy again after taking so many antibiotic I had no longer an infection. they also gave me a blood transfusion at the E.R. I feel so bless to be still alive. But was so depressed after this experience, left with scars and burn mark. I know There are many great surgeon in Mexico. I am only warning people about dr cerpa.. Please please research other surgeon in Mexico do not go to dr cerpa, he should not be in this field. He don't know what he is doing. And please if anyone had bad experiences with him please come forward and share your story. You might save someone from total torture, or even dying. I still have scars that I see every single day..
I went to see Dr. Cerpa and it was a nightmare. This will be a long story but I will start from the beginning. first off, I gave him a deposit for the surgery. When i got to his office, it was small and it looked very poor. there were even holes in the walls. however, i tried not to judge his surgical skill by his office. however, i thought that if a doctor is making enough money from his patients he should be able to make his office look nice. dr fuentes office, for example is very nice and he is in mexico. We started going over everything and he asked me if i was on any medications. I said yes, that i was on antibiotics for chronic lyme disease. Then he just mentioned that i forgot to mention this, he did not say that he couldnt do the surgery or that he would have to look into my disease or anything he just wrote down my medications. After the surgery when things started to go wrong is when he tried to allude to my lyme disease being the cause of things going wrong instead of taking responsibility for his surgical skills. Let me tell you that i have had other surgeries. I have had breast implants, I have had lipo, I have had fat grafting. I have never had any issues with these surgeries except for this one. I had also been told by my doctors that my lyme disease would not affect any surgery i chose to have and all that lyme disease causes is pain, like muscle pain and arthritis. So then because of the bad things that i had read about Dr. Cerpa, i asked him to sign something that said that if there was to be a correction for surgery that he would do it. It took me three hours of arguing with this doctor before he would sign this paper. I didnt even know if this paper would be helpful, because with how this doctor likes to argue he could totally have messed up my body and argued that it looked fine after. The way that this doctor argued and his attitude was unprofessional. I saw that from the beginning but I had already given him my deposit which was half of the surgery and I was afraid he wasnt going to give it back. I tried to focus on all of the good reviews that this doctor received. However, more and more people are seeing that these good reviews are dwindling down. I was even warned by a woman on here named noveleo about this doctor, but i didnt listen. I really should have listened. I asked this doctor about noveleo and one other woman i believe her name is shamika. and dr cerpa said that these women are liars and are angry. He told me that noveleo was a woman from mexico and she wanted a ridiculous sized implant for her body that he couldnt give her without putting her safety in danger. the implant would have stretched her skin so much and he wouldnt have been able to stitch her up after. So he gave her a smaller implant and told her that when her skin was stretched she could come back and get a bigger implant in a couple years. she decided to go to dr fuentes after this and get a bigger implant and is now happy. so he said was she wanted was unrealistic, and i dont really know what to believe. maybe if she responds to this post she can say anything more that she wants to say, but i agree with her that this doctor is bad news still. And he told me about shamika, he said she was told she needed a blood transfusion after her surgery and it was against her religion supposedly to do this and because of this she developed an infection and had to have the implants removed. anyways, i had the surgery and after i was really sore. I had drains in my body, and i was draining for a long time. the whole time i kept in touch with dr fuentes who was right down the street and i would ask him questions because my gut instinct told me to be weary of this doctor. dr fuentes would come to check on me from time to time. Dr fuentes did lipo and fat grafting on me, and the fat grafting to my butt didnt give me the results i wanted. my butt looked saggy and droopy and i wanted it to be more round. i am not sure why some people can have great results with fat grafting and others cant. the lipo from him was also a bit lumpy, he told me to massage it and i did but the lumps did not go away. dr fuentes as a person was very nice to me though, and he does not have the same attitude as dr cerpa. Even though my lipo was lumpy, i am thinking of going back to dr fuentes for my butt implants because he treats his patients well and i saw pictures of his butt implants and they look fine. I trust that if dr fuentes made a mistake that he would correct it and i dont think he would put me in danger. So anyways, i was draining for over two weeks. When it became three weeks i asked dr cerpa why and he said it must be my lyme disease. I didnt believe this, and started to worry for my safety. I asked dr fuentes about it and he said that wasnt true. that made me angry that this doctor was trying to blame this on me. that is unprofessional. then he bought tools to try to stop the draining and suggested i it hpay for these tools, even though it was most likely his surgical skills that caused this problem in the first place. he wanted me to pay $400 for these tools that he bought that he would probably be using on other patients in the future when he came against the same problem. finally it had become a month and i was still draining and dr fuentes suggested i might have an infection. he cultured the drainage from my butt to see if there was bacteria present and it came back that i didnt have an infection. he told me that i could however, have a subclinical infection that would not show up on the test. So after the two weeks I had already bought a return flight that i had to change because Dr. Cerpa said i had to stay longer. I had to pay another $300 to buy another flight. I thought Dr. Cerpa should be paying for these things but he insisited that it was my body that was causing these problems. So then I was still bleeding and Dr Cerpa told me that he wanted me to come into his office to do a surgery to stop the bleeding. So i went into his office and he said he was looking for a blood vessel that might be bleeding so he could cauterize it. he put me under anesthesia, and when i woke up he said he thinks he found the blood vessel and cauterized it. I had to buy an additional plane ticket, so another $300 because Dr. Cerpa said he needed me to stay longer. By now it was a little over a month and I had an open wound about 2 inches long on my butt crack and drains still in my body. I kept asking why this was happening, and every time Dr Cerpa would say different things as if he forgot what he said before. But each time he would reply with some way to blame me. He told me i must be moving around too much. That it was my lyme disease. He was angry that Dr fuentes would check on me, and he asked if he said anything bad about him when he came to visit. he asked me this because he probably knows all of the bad things people say about him. He was defensive and angry whenever anyone criticizes him. Thats not professional. SO now it is over a month and i am still not healed and i have had to pay for two more plane tickets and hotels, food etc. I had to pay an additional $2000 for these things. So I told Dr Cerpa I think he should be paying for at least some of the hotel because this is not my fault that this complication is happening. He agreed to pay for three days of my hotel. after the three days, i was still bleeding. he asked me again to stay for more time and i told him i could not afford it. I told him i really had to go home now. he told me that i would be fine if i went home. He said the wound would heal on its own and he had sent many patients home with an open wound and they healed. Dr fuentes said that i would heal eventually if there was no infection. So i got on a plane and went home and the plane ride was so uncomfortable i even asked the flight attendants if i could stand for part of the flight. I was bleeding alot on the plane from the pressure of sitting for so long. When i got back home the bleeding was worse and continued. I kept in contact with Dr. Cerpa and he just told me to update him. I was staying at my mothers house at the time. My mother who had surgery recently on her hip had nurses coming to check on her. They checked on me and told me that i was having too much bleeding and advised I go to the E.R. It made me angry that Dr. Cerpa did not advise me to go to the E.R. when i was losing all this blood, he did not have my health and safety in mind and did not want to be blamed for his mistakes i suppose. When i got to the E.R. they told me that i had a huge wound in my crack which i already knew but they acted like they were alarmed by it. then they did a cat scan on the implants and that showed air around the implants. they told me that the implants were being exposed to air by the wound being open in my crack and that this can cause bacterial contamination around the implants and whenever this occurs they suggest the implants to be removed. I was upset, i felt i wasted all this time and money and now was being told to remove the implants. Dr. Cerpa had warned me before i went home about seeing doctors for my butt implants in the u.s. He said that they often dont know much about butt implants and if i am having an issue with them they often advise to remove them when i dont necessarily have to. I thought about this and I contacted Dr Cerpa. He told me that i dont have to remove the implants and that i should go on antibiotics and get a WOUND VAC machine to close the wound, what he had asked me to pay for in mexico he was asking me to get another one now for myself. I contacted Dr Fuentes and he said that if I have an infection the antibiotics would only keep the infection at bay but when i stop taking them the infection could come back. This was not a risk i wanted to take and i shouldnt have had to take and i also did not want to risk having to have additional surgeries because I had to get back to work. It should be my choice at that point if i wanted to remove the implants, and i did . After I removed them the doctors stitched me up and told me that because i had an infection for so long I was probably going to drain for awhile and they told me that they found two bacterias present in the implant. One was a resistant strain of e coli and another was a common bacteria. They also told me that they found that one of the implants was ruptured, it was the side that was draining more. the surgeon told me that it was most likely from the time of insertion that this implant was ruptured. they gave me two antibiotics and i was draining again for over two weeks. When i asked for a refund for the butt implants, Dr Cerpa did not respond right away. It took him two weeks to respond and he told me that I could have salvaged the implant and gone on antibiotics. He told me that the surgeon who removed the implant ruptured my implant even though the ruptured side was the side that was swollen and draining more for so long and still is. He doesnt want to refund me now. So I am going to tell everyone here my story in hopes i can save someone from dealing with this doctor because i went through hell and this doctor still doesnt want to take responibility or give me a refund even for all of the trouble i went through. Some doctors will issue a refund out of good faith if a patient really went through alot even if it wasnt their fault. he will not even do that, he is refusing. It is now February, and I had my surgery last november and i still have an infection with drains in! The surgeon here says that if my butt does not stop draining he will have to make a very large incision and go in and remove the pocket that was created by the implant. I will have a large scar if this happens. DO NOT GO TO DR CERPA!
Dear Rae, Thank you for your question. If you truly want to increase your buttocks and hip measurements, butt implants is the best idea to achieve this goal; but you need to be realistic about the size. The size of the implant would depend on your measurement and amount of tissue you have to cover the implant. There are good Plastic Surgeons and specialists in every country. Many people travel for surgery abroad and not only because it's cheap. México is famous for Plastic Surgery. When choosing a Plastic Surgeon: Make sure that you have a good rapport with your surgeon. He needs to understand your esthetics, your specific needs and concerns and you need to feel that he would be able to give you what you want. Higher price does not mean more skill. When searching internationally for a doctor, you may discover a wide variance in price. A lower price does not automatically mean lower quality, but could simply indicate a different economic environment from the one you are in -and may be reflected in price of all commodities and services. Rather than initially basing your decision on price, consider first reviewing the surgeon’s profile, credentials, years of experience, and before and after photos for people with similar concerns. Then, factor in the differences in price between North American, Latin American, European and Asian countries. The recovery time is approximately 2 weeks. Thanks for submitting your pictures. I agree that your implants are placed too high and it definitely doesn't look natural, and no projection in the central buttocks. The left implant is higher and to much lateral, at least 30% outside the gluteal maximus muscle, where they should go. In my experience, implant outline is visible when implants are placed subfascial and/or are placed too lateral and penetrate through muscle. This will NOT get better with time and in that position the implants will expand the skin. Replacing new implants: I think an oval implant can probably be a better choice for you, these implants have broader base, with the maximum projection is on your bottom half; then using an implant about 300 cc, intra muscular placed to create better coverage, and slightly lateral position will make your hips wider, besides the edge of the implants will be less visible. You will look great. The Corrective buttocks surgery is often more challenging than a standard procedure; then I would recommend you, that the correction surgery must be performed by an experienced surgeon; the surgical technique must be meticulous, well executed; and the surgeons must be familiar with those features that characterize beautiful buttocks to achieve optimal results. The corrective surgery: remove and replace new implants can be performed all in one surgery. See before and after photos of butt implants corrections to have an idea of what to expect. Determination of implant size depends on many factors: Body size, the laxity of the butt tissues (skin), butt size (your buttocks muscle is strong and not to large), the technique that the surgeon choice (plane or space to put the implants). I personally based on my experience and long practice, I advise for your body frame an implant of 270cc would be adequate, for a moderate enlargement, this size would look the most natural on your body, nice shape and has less complications. To enhance the results, you need to have liposuction on your love handles and back area to have more of a curve and maybe transfer some fat to your hips. What’s wrong with them? The implants cannot slipped out the pocket, they are placed out of the muscle. What is wrong with your implants is that they are placed on top of the muscle (under the skin) and not within the gluteous muscle. When placed on top, there is little tissue durability/strength holding them in position, for that reason, they are much more visible, palpable, and your butt look pointy and saggy (from the side). Your implants are sitting low because they are placed just on outside of the muscle and under the skin. The skin cannot hold the implant, because the heaviness, then the implant will drop. Incision for placement of gluteal implants The best location for the incisión (scar) to insert the implants within the muscles is in the center of the butt crack, just one incisión, gives access to both sides and it is concealed. The scar is small, about 5-7 cm, and easily hidden by bikini or underwear. Two separate incisions placed on each side of the inner butt cheek, it is easier and faster to perform. But after the surgery it is very noticeable. Buttock corrective surgery is often more difficult than a standard procedure; it is a surgery that requires knowledge of anatomy, good training, experience and finesse to achieve a good result; and prevent further complications. For very poor, unnatural result, corrective buttock surgery may include one or several procedures. Pictures are good, but there's nothing like the real thing. In this respect your gluteal region should be lifted (internal butt lift), replacement new implants in a new space (intra-muscular pocket) to get volume, projection, curvature; and making the pocket exactly to fit the implants so that they can't move (rotate). Surgeons must be familiar with those features that characterize beautiful buttocks before they can attempt to recreate them and make it possible to achieve optimal results that produce increased patient satisfaction and enhanced body image. Hip Augmentation There is not really a good implant for contouring the hips, I recommend buttock implants. The biggest problem with implants in the hip region, is that they will feel fake and can look fake as well. Buttocks implants placed strategically a little lateral in your butt área will accentuate your hips, making them curvy. I recomend you an oval shape implant (anatomical) this kind of implant stands out certain angles of your butt. to make you look curvy, jiggle and with projection; using a wide diameter gluteal implant can fill your butt laterally to improve your hips. But after the surgery it is very noticiable when you spread your butt cheeks apart. Best Regads, Orlando Figueroa Cerpa, M.D. Tijuana, México Plastic Surgeon
