It is common to get flu-symptoms after Juvederm?

Question

I had one syringe to NL folds on 09/19 and got flu symptoms the next day. I had another syringe yesterday and now feel terrible - hot, headache, faint... I know too much was put in but the folds were very deep and nothing else has worked - Radiesse/ Stylage/Teosyal - 2 x Juvederm 4 (I'm in the UK) and the lines have gone but I don't feel good at all. Do I need antibiotics?

In general, the side effects of Juvederm may include the following:1) Bruising 2) Swelling 3) Redness around the injection site 4) Lumps or bumpsFlu-like symptoms are not common following Juvederm treatment and may be coincidental. Flu-like symptoms are not a common symptom after Juvederm injections.  Typically, if a reaction occurs, it is localized to the injection site.  I suggest you followup with your physican to rule out any chance of infection.  Good Luck

Flu like symptoms are not common after a filler injection. It could be coincidence. Perhaps contact the clinic where you had the injections and explain all your symptoms. If the product is causing an adverse reaction it would most likely appear where the product was injected. Schedule a follow up visit with your injector. Good Luck!

I do not think that the flu symptoms are related to the juviderm.  But I would let your doctor know that you are not feeling well.  They may want to see you to look for signs of infection at the injection site.

At a reputable center with an experienced and expert physician injector, it is unlikely to have flu like symptoms as a result of a juvederm treatment. If sterile techniques were not followed, you may have a localized infection. Consult with your injector as he or she knows the specifics about you and the treatment.

Flu-like symptoms would be very unusual and highly unlikely to be due to the Juvederm filler unless you developed a localized infection where the Juvederm was injected which is quite rare if hygiene precautions are properly taken.

It is not common at all to ascribe the symptoms you are describing to fillers. That is not to say it cannot happen. There are a few patients that will have some unusual side effects that cannot be explained otherwise, and you may be one of them. if this happens again, it may be wise to avoid Juvederm altogether. If you have a vral syndrome, antibiotics will not be helpful.
