Is preventive Botox at 18 too young? (photos)

If wrinkles and fine lines are already developing from muscle movement, Botox is a great option! You are young for Botox, but if you’re already developing wrinkles that are related to excessive muscle movement, that might be the best solution for you. However, that has to be decided in person. Preventive Botox treatment is definitely a good idea. If you have definitive fine lines when moving the forehead Botox maybe warranted. If it’s barely visible I would suggest using good topical antiaging products, regular chemical peels, sun avoidance, eating healthy nutritionally balanced foods , drinking lots of water all of which will help to delay the onset of lines. 

I recommend my younger patients start anti-aging treatments like Botox early for prevention. Botox results take 1-2 weeks and resolve in 3-4 months. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

18 is a bit too young for Botox. Based on your photograph, your skin has sustained pretty significant amount of sun damage, and that is why you notice your lines so early. I highly suggest using daily sunscreen and start with a good medical grade skincare. I like SkinCeuticals.   You need sunscreen SPF 30 at least, retinol and moisturizer and being really good about its application on daily basis.  If this doesn't help in the next few years, then you can add Botox to help you train you muscles not to be too expressive . Botox or any of the other wrinkle relaxers can be given as either a therapeutic or preventive measure towards wrinkles, and can be used to treat your forehead lines. That said 18 is young to start with Botox and I would emphasize a good skin care regimen that includes a retinol, moisturizer, a sunblock with titanium or zinc, and light chemical peels first.  Best wishes!

Botox will paralyze the muscles that are causing the lines to form on your forehead with animation. Botox is safe when administered by an experienced provider. The full affect of a dose of botox will be visible in a few days and should last three to four months. Good luck.

There’s no reason to feel shy about using Botox as long as you are over 18. It’s a very safe treatment and repeated use, over time, means that you’ll probably need less of it on subsequent treatments. If your mother has deep lines, then early Botox can help you from developing a similar look. Hello and thank you for your question. There really is no "age limit" for Botox as it depends on how your brow looks at rest and in use. Genetics does play a significant role in our facial structure. I doubt if you will need a great deal of product to relax your brow. Look for a qualified injector and give it try. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for providing photos. I did not see any lines on your forehead. However if you are seeing lines with expressions of frowning or raising your forehead, then do low dose every six months. If you are not seeing any lines then wait.
