I'm wondering if it's impossible to make my nose look more ... conventional? I don't like saying I hate my nose, but I have not liked my nose since I was 19 (now 25). I've been researching rhinoplasty since I was 20 and haven't found anyone with a nose like mine. From a side profile my nose is too long and my nostrils are too large. My nose tip is my main concern though, as it's very bulbous and "fat" looking. It's quite asymmetrical. I hate that! What is causing this asymmetry?

Answer: Rhinoplasty Candidate I would recommend starting with a consultation with a board certified facial plastic surgeon that specializes in rhinoplasty surgery to discuss if rhinoplasty can address your concerns. I would recommend writing down the following questions before scheduling your consultation: 1. Are you unhappy with the tip of your nose? 2. Do you feel that your nose is too wide? 3. Do you want to make your nostrils smaller in appearance? 4. Are you looking to decrease the general size of your nose? I hope some of these questions will help you pinpoint what it is that you don't like about your nose. Cost will vary due to various factors like anesthesia fees, facilities fees, etc. I wish you the best as you research your options when scheduling a rhinoplasty consultation. Sincerely, Philip J. Answer: Rhinoplasty to contour a nose and make it look more symmetrical Deat brittbuggs,A rhinoplasty can help you achieve your dream nose (or very close to it)Asymmetric tip cartilages (usually you were born that way) causes the asymmetric tip and can be adjusted at the time of surgeryNo 2 noses are alike, so it will be difficult to find the exact B&A of a nose like yours, but bulbous tip rhinoplasty is not rare. You can expect the tip to be smaller and more symmetric (although it may not be perfectly symmetric)You can also make the nose smaller from the side view and reduce the nostrils slightlyWhen you are ready, see if you can find a rhinoplasty specialist who regularly performs this surgeryBest, Dr. Nima Member, American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon Board Certified in Head and Neck Surgery
