Can I get 1 inch off just my left flank with lipo? Photos)

Question

I have 29 inches waist and a left flank that has more fat accumulated than the other. I believe this is due to an appendectomy I had when I was 12 years old that left a big scar on my right side that reduced the fat cells on that area. my skin is not elastic, therefore I expect sagging after the procedure. My height is 5” 1’, my weight 117 pounds. Reducing the fat on my left flank has been a challenge, because with diet and exercise the fat loss is general from your whole body, not targeted. Can I find a doctor in my area to perform this procedure for me? Thanks !

Thank you for your photos. It’s likely that you have an irregularity where your appendix scar is because of some scarring, which is bulging the fat up in that area. That said, liposuction is specifically meant for targeted, focal areas of fat removal and should be able to improve the symmetry with your opposite side. This is a very small area and could potentially be done under local anesthesia only. Check with your plastic surgeon about your options. Best wishes.

Thank you for your question and photos. First of all, your posted photos show numerous asymmetries, loose skin, asymmetrical fat pockets bilaterally in all the photos. To ask someone to "reduce 1 inch from one waist" is unrealistic. Don't get me wrong, you will find someone to promise to give you what you ask for (someone even quoted you up to $4,000, but now your attention will be focused on some other minor asymmetry. As one of the respondents suggested to you, you should ask how to make my abdomen and torso more feminine and beautiful. Good luck in your search.

Contouring of the abdominal area with Liposuction is definitely a good option. In addition to Liposuction, you may also consider scar revision in order to even out contour and get rid of the indentation that is common after abdominal scars.

Yes, you do not have much fat, but a conservative targeted liposuction could help.  It is also possible to tighten the skin in some areas with Laser or Plasma devices to help with the overall improvement.

Yes, targeted liposuction to address asymmetry in a single flank is technically possible. In cases like yours, where one side holds more fat than the other, selective contouring can be considered rather than full bilateral liposuction.
However, because skin elasticity appears limited, there is a risk of residual looseness or unevenness after fat removal. The goal in these situations is usually subtle improvement and better balance, not perfect symmetry.
Whether you are a good candidate, and how much correction is realistic, can only be determined through an in-person consultation where skin quality, scar tissue from prior surgery, and overall contour can be properly evaluated.
